The metal ball rope slipped out of its socket under my ceiling fan, now I can not turn on and off the light.

I noticed it came out of a black piece with the word "cana" on it, possibly taiwan canal? or something ...wan canal. How do I open up this little box to put the rope back in.

The box seems to be held together by two straight, thin silver nail-like screws.

If anybody knows anything thanks for the help.

That happened to my fan. I had to buy a new chain, with the mechanism in the plastic casing at the end. Then I had to take the old one out, detaching all the wires (I actually cut them off, since it wasn't engineered to ever be repaired), and attached the wires to the new cord mechanism. A huge pain in the ass in the end, but I was sick of not being able to pull the cord after a year or so.

God knows. I couldn't. And, it looked like I wouldn't be able to re-attach the chain if I could.

that piece of plastic(the switch) is not meant to be repaired.

that is why replacement ones come as one piece.

do as JV suggests and replace the unit or just deal with not having it work.
