I have a question that will probably end up making me loop pretty stupid on this BBS but I have a question pertaining to the salary cap. How can Portland afford all these big name players??? I know most were aqcuired from other teams, but how come teams like the Clippers and Grizzlies are lacking in decent veteran players? I realize that the Clips and Grizz is no where a player wants to go, but Portland and Dunleavy isn't THAT attractive is it? Which leads me to believe that its all about salary cap. Does the salary cap depend on how much money the owner has? I see Mark Cuban creating quite a stir in the Mavericks organization, and they are actually starting to resemble a Western Team! Furthermore, if Bill Gates bought say, the Sonics, could he load his teams with talent such as Hill, McGrady, Eddie Jones, Spree, Houston, Mouring (get well soon!), Iverson, and Marbury; thereby practically dissolving the east? Sorry for my lack of knowledge on the managerial side of the NBA. I figure you guys (and girls, ofcourse) at CCNet are the ones to ask, since I love reading your insightful threads (and occasionaly quarrels). Thanks! ------------------
If you go over the salery cap, you pay the luxery tax. If you dont mind paying the extra money you can spend as much as you like. ------------------ I'ma need more than 6 and a half rebounds a game from the PF
Basically in a nutshell, the Blazers built their team through extremely intelligent trades by their GM Bob Whitsitt and the use of the Larry Bird Exception where teams can exceed the cap to re-sign their own players. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
