The difference of the ball game was the Rockets actually made their shots outside of the paint. Portland didn't.
Moving screens drive me crazy during the game. They also grab you going around them with no calls. Last year Yao was called for it all the time. But, if they don't call it then we should be doing it too.
Occasional flops like Scola n Pryzibila did is allrite to me. But flops like Krylienko n Chris Paul does like someone just punched them is completely ridiculous and should be cleaned up by refs or fined. But this game Portland is just making excuses. Rockets completely outplayed them and played terrible defense. Also they had no answer for Yao Ming. Rockets even benched Yao Ming most of the 3rd n 4th n still Blazers couldnt take advantage. Blazers just played terrible n Rockets played good defense, period!!
And what were the fans saying. I couldn't make out what they were chanting. But trust me I've been going to the playoffs for the past two years and they gave us some ****ty calls. But we never lost like that against the Jazz and b****ed like the Blazer's fans are doing. If you lose by 5 points then you can start your argue about bad calls. You lose by 20+ points, your ass got schooled in front of all your fans. RIP (REST IN PEACE) City we sweeping this series.
I think we did get the benefit of the doubt on some borderline calls. I can't recall any OBVIOUS missed calls or any OBVIOUS fouls called for Houston that weren't fouls. It was just, the borderline calls went to us more than it went for them.
I agree with some of what you're saying, but dude... we won by 30... THIRTY POINTS. We absolutely and unquestionably outplayed Portland on both ends of the floor. Even if both teams got the same amount of calls -- hell, even if Portland got the vast majority of the calls -- we STILL would have won easily.
It helped that during the scrum where Roy got hit in the head by an Artest knee that no foul was called on the Rockets. Even though there wasnt really a foul anywhere to be found there. Just an unfortunate incident for Roy. Well, there was a pretty weak foul on the drive he made on the following posession for the Blazers so I guess thats where it was.
Oh agreed most definitely, we were the better team. All I was getting across is the fact that we get a lot of calls, to other teams fan's (and players) it seems like we get the calls unfairly. We definitely were the better team. I just feel like, there are games, where we never get in our groove because the refs really squash any instance of momentum by calling love-tap fouls. I think realistically we won't dominate the blazers again in this series, that is to say another 30 point win, unless we get the calls we did in this first game. We really stack up well against this team, and we can still squeeze by them with 10-20 point wins. I'm not saying this series is in the bag, but I will be really surprised if it lasts 7 games, heck I'd be surprised if it lasted 6 games. Thus far, the only people who have picked us to win are either former coaches or former players. Sad really.
I thought it was a well-called game, for the most part, and I appreciated that they didn't reward floppers. But, I object to the idea that refs can't create a 30-point blowout. Of course, some cooperation from the teams is needed, but some bad calls early in the game could kill morale, discourage certain play-calls, and otherwise discombobulate a team to cause a down-stream cascade of bad play.
nothing wrong with that. Some guys on here do the same thing. Thats all fans do when their team doesn't win. Find someone 2 blame.
They got slaughtered so even if the refs made 10 bad calls it wouldn't matter and they were at home !!!!!!
I think the discouragment example is a poor example. If a team is so weak mentaly that a few bad calls cause them to quit, then they deserved to lose the game. The fact you say that cooperation is needed means that the Refs by themselves are not going to cause a 30 pt beating. That's the point.
I don't know. The times the Rockets have been blown out that bad I don't remember much complaining about the Refs. Maybe we're just harder on our teams. Now some of the close games where we fought our guts out only to lose in the last 5 min due to officiating.... yeah, pretty much. Two helpful templates for fans. They work for any game, any team. You can even post them for the opposing teams of the same game. It'll make you sound less like a homer that way. "Boy those refs really stank. You could tell (choose one: Stern, bookies, networks,) really wants us to lose and for (enter opposing team name here) to win this game" or "I can't believe how they let (enter opposing teams name here) beat on (enter name of own team's best player) like that without calling a foul! Gauranteed agreement on whatever board you post by at least 76% of responders. Just remember to fill in the correct opposing team.
lol i agree with u, some people are like, excuses are bad...we ALWAYS blame the refs, especially when they do a bad job on yao, but they nvr think about other factors that cost the game...
