Of course, thousands of years ago, people still communicated faster than a dial-up connection...

And don't forget that all the escalators stopped, too.

Luckily the market is closed...well without power it would have been anyway, but you know what I'm saying.

Indeed. That's why the aggie was late to class yesterday - the escalator stopped while he was going up.

that's funny...I just heard the news put out an advisory

if your toaster was stopped by the blackout in the down position, *DO NOT* stick on fork in there to get the toast out, because the power could come back on at any moment.

they're evacuating the subways, so the underground heat shouldn't become too big of a problem

    What a mess.

I have a feeling you will see a lot of small store owners sitting in front of their businesses with shotguns and large thermoses of coffee (well, maybe instant cold coffee)

Detroit? Well, this seems like another reason to riot. They didnt win a championship tonight either.

Is there any correlation between the massive overload on the East Coast right around when kids get back from school and the release of Madden 2004? Damn that EA Sports.

It's freakin NY!!! They can find something to do. I'm sure they can put Bon Jovi up on a stage in Times Square in 20 minutes.

And the cause of it all was a malfuntion at Niagra Falls.

    NOT TERRORISM

Kind of funny if you reminisce, though.

What's weird is the cell phones don't work there.

I was on a call at 4:15 witha a co-worker in NYC and his line went dead. he called back on his telephone line but he said his cell phone wouldn't work.

Weird situation. Stay north, I need my AC to work in Columbus, OH! :)

damnit! wrong AGAIN!!! you see... i'm extremely tired of correcting people on this board.

    here's what happened....

freddy vs jason is being released nationwide tomorrow. of course i haven't seen the movie, but i'm fairly certain that jason is going to lose. HE is the reason behind the power outage. it was NOT any "natural occurrence". jason doesn't want the huge population of new york to see the movie because they will start to doubt him and his efforts to take manhattan once again will be futile.

duh! get your facts straight, mateo! :p

Power outages spreading not only from NYC, Cleveland, Detroit, Toronto, and Ottawa, but also to Syracuse, Albany, Utica, and possibly parts of Oklahoma and Florida!

I remember watching a documentary about NYC's blackouts from the 50s through 70s. This seems to be the largest outage ever!

Man, I can almost say I wish I were there, lol.
