I know there are quite a bit of people on this website that use bittorrent. My question is how much do u guys seed? For me it really depends on when the dl is finished and what mood I'm in. Though I typically seed about atleast a 1:1 ratio without any major problems since I start my dl and leave for long extended periods of time (sleep, school, etc etc). So my question is what are all the other bt users sharing habits?
I always make sure that at least one other user has completed the download. But I also have the highest upload setting so my ratio if usually in the 2s.
i usually leave it seeding for 20/30 minutes then usually close it up. It slows down other things i'm trying to do on the computer so i don't leave it going too long.
when you're using bittorrent to get a file, you'll notice that most trackers tell you how many seed there are for a file. The seeds are ppl that have completed the download, but are still having the download window, or the download program running. In another words they're sharing and uploading even after their file completed. Just wondering if people do seed or are just leechers that takes from the community and not give back, that's all. I either try to have atlest a 1:1 overall ratio or more typically, leave it up for a few hours after i finish.
People who don't seed until they have at least a 1:1 ratio suck. Try to give as much or more than you take and it makes BitTorrent a wonderful experience for everyone. The only exception is if you go for a long time and there are NO peers to seed to. I don't think you need to seed indefinitely on the off chance that someone might want that file at a later date, but while the swarm is still active, leave it on.

BitTorrent/Kazaa is not illegal, as there are plenty of legal media on these sites. Actually giving out info where to get illegal media would not be allowed to be discussed.
