Are there any good sites remaining to get free bit torrents? My girlfriends is wanting desperately to see the episode of "ER" that came on last week when Dr. Carter bids farewell. Is there any place to still get these?
http://torrentspy.com/ is good too. And I think this is the episode that you're looking for: http://torrentspy.com/search.asp?mode=torrentdetails&id=299640
and using a program that accesses the usenet newsgroups , such as Agent, combined with a premium newsserver, such as Giganews, is faster than Gnutella
I love bittorrent. Got the whole season of Lost on my computer...and yes, I'll be getting the DVD set when it comes out regardless of what the MPAA says. Hmm...limwire faster than bittorrent? I should give it a try. Though I'm a bit paranoid about them catching me...heh.
Woah, woah, woah! I don't exactly understand all the terms there. Are you saying you configured Bit Torrent like that and enabled it to download faster than the usual 4 - 10 kbps, or was that just a smart comeback dealing with something totally unrelated like saying a Dodge Viper is faster then a Toyota Camry. I'd like some more information on this Agent... I've found Bit Torrent takes entirely too long to download a file, (like a TV episode) as in a whole day. And, the problem with LimeWire and other programs like it is that a lot of the time files are named incorrectly. (This is just my experience from watching my friends participate in the activity; I wouldn't pirate file, of course).
I'm able to download 24 and Lost in a couple of hours for a 350mb file, not a whole day. I'm getting my links from piratebay, though. And downloading at about 30kb/sec. Which shows are you downloading?
No way. Bittorrent is theoretically the fastest application because there is no limit. Perhaps the files you were looking for were seeded by some slow users. I've gotten speeds over 100KB/sec using Bittorrent.
Disclaimer: this is for your education only...Im not responsible for anything you do with this information...While I used to use this extensively....I dont mess with it as much anymore....just know that this is a option. Newsgroups.....otherwise known as Usenet. is one of the oldest forms of filesharing....it is a totally seperate network of servers that host what is known as "groups"...originally used as discussion groups, or for news dissemination...in recent years...93 and up..people started using the groups to post binaries...ie..datafiles... there are many groups to choose from (over 80,000 IIRC).. your ISP probably provides you with access to a newserver...but most of those suck as far as completeness of articles(files) and length of retention(how long the file stays on the server before being purged)... I recommend Giganews as a pay premium news server....they offer 99% completeness and well over 30 days retention in multipart binary groups. Another advantage of a premium newservice like Giga is that their servers are on fast pipes....you can download from them as fast as your connection allows you....no slowdown just because the person you are downloading from has a slow connection... Also...in usenet...if the file is of low quality, mislabeled, or contains a virus....you will normally see messeges in the group to that effect warning others...and the poster will get flamed into oblivion for doing it.. it is a much better option if you want to get stuff like TV shows, movies, music, games, software or pr0n. google "usenet""newsgroup basics" for more information...there is a ton of it out there...
One more question: I downloaded the ER, YAY!!!! and many thanks but here is the thing: It is made up of 25 WinRAR files, 1 SFV file, and 1 MSInfo Document. How do I get this where I can have it in a video mode and burn it to a DVD or at least watch it on my computer?
Sorry, one more question. I am using Roxio as my burning program but the "ER" file is an .avi file which is not supported by my Roxio software. Is there a good, free DVD burning program out there?
Well my computer questions have dropped dramatically and are not as frequent as they once were and besides this isn't asking for computer help, it's help finding a program. I own you anyway, nWo34Life!
Lil Pun, You need to encode the .avi file into a DVD compliant mpeg2 file. TMPGenc is one of the best programs to do this, although there are other out there. Also, some DVD authoring packages (like Sonic MyDVD) will do the encoding and burning for you, but it doesn't always work, and the quality will probably be less.
