Calvin "check out the new suit my brotha" Walton" That's the Worst combination of colors in the history of western civilization"
Ha ha, thankee thankee......... I love Bill and Calvin, and I wish I could post all the witty and funny things that they have said lately. My sig may change from time to time.......here's a few others that I remember.... Clipper game- Calvin made a comment about himself being able to jump out there on the floor and play (I think it was a response to a shot taken by Bill, commenting on Calvins video at his camp), and Bill comes back with "........and 2 trips down the floor, we'd be serving you oxygen..." Calvin also commented in a different scenario-Steve was dribbling in front of Maggette, juking and jiving, trying to get by him. Steve fakes out Maggette to one side, and continues to try and get by him, and was fouled. Calvin, watching the replay, noted that Steve was playing with the ball too much, and said that at one point he had his man beat, and he should have gone up with a shot right then. But Steve tried to go even further and was fouled. Calvin, "Steve gets bored when he beats his man early". The guys crack me up. 76ers game- Bill, "Steve tries to dribble through the whole city of Philidelphia, and the mayor got him...." (turnover)
Not exactly a brilliant insight, but it was rather funny last night when Steve, I think it was, made a bad turnover, and Bill just shouts out, "Another STUPID move by the Rockets!" I dunno, it was just funny to hear him actually get so frustrated that he sounded more like a fan than a brodcaster.
I love BIll and Calvin! They have been associated with the Rockets for a long time! They are legendary. Sometimes they are pretty stupid..especially live..but they are still great lol. Better than Cooper. I think that it would be a good idea if they added Matt Bullard or some other analyst to join Bill and Calvin. They are getting old...but they are still wonderful! I think they need another person with them though.
Bill and Cal are almost never on league pass but everytime espn shows a highlight from a Rocket game, even if the highlight was against Houston, they use Bill and Cal. Plus, I have heard the espn guys talking about how good of a team Bill and Cal are together numerous times. I really don't know how bad other teams have it because I never listened to any other teams commentators, but I know that Bill and Calvin would have to be in the top 5 best.
Here's another vote for Bill and CM. They are a great team and a lot of fun to watch. Cynthia Cooper on the other hand has not got the hang of this yet, she has the deer in the headlights look during each segment.
I don't think you have to worry about that until Calvin puts a muffler on his wardrobe! His outfits are tooooo loud for a major network to handle.
THose quotes by Bill are great! Bill Rocks. It just wouldn't be the same with out Bill Worrell and Calvin Murphy....that is if I ever get to see a game again.
I remember hearing that Calvin Murphy was going to Join Marv Albert for NBA LIVE 2004. Anyone have any insight to this?
Nope, it's Marv and Mike Fratello (the 'Czar of the Telestrator'). The commentary is really well done in this version of the Live series. Some phrases get overused a bit, but 55 games into the season, they haven't gotten too annoying for me yet. A bit OT, but my impressions of this years version of Nba Live is that it's the best sports game I've ever played. The gameplay and animations are smoother than Live 2003, even with the same exact hardware. The computer-controlled defense is much better, the passing more intelligent and the all-around quality of the game is more polished and professional. With a dual analog stick gamepad (I use the Gravis Eliminator Aftershock), the game is a joy to play. The controls are responsive and crisp. The only gripe I have with it is that the default Yao has been elevated to the status of demigod or the second coming of Wilt Chamberlain. Before I adjusted his settings downward, his moves and shooting percentage were just too damned good, and he could have his way with practically any center in the league. At one point before readjusting him, he was averaging between 35-42 pts per game WITH SIX MINUTE QUARTERS on All-Star skill level. I've gotten it down to a more manageable 22 ppg and 11 rpg now and it feels right. So far, I'd give it a 4 of 5 stars.
One man's poison - another's food. You hate that remark but I love it. We have pampered these players for waaay too long. If you repeated do dumb and stupid things, and don't learn or change for better after 3 'strikes' (year) you deserve to be called out for those dumb plays. Bill is not just a Rockets employee and tv commentator - he is also a humna being with feelings. And I don't suscribe to the take that that statement was unethical or out of place.
Yeah, Bill was commenting on our turnover problem, and that many of them were careless, senseless turnovers. 2 times in that game, a pass was made that went out of bounds. This was when they were bringing the ball upcourt, with no interference from the defense. Sure enough, as Bill was pointing that out, Steve turns the ball over.... Sometimes I think that Bill reads this board, and you can tell that he is definately telling it like it is at times. He wants to win as badly as we do. I wonder if he has any trade ideas?
I like the chemistry between Bill and Calvin. Calvin is insane in a good way, and Bill is probably insane in a much more under the surface, but good way as well. They are both homers, but at the same time not usually offensive to the other teams. After having league pass for a few years, and lately seeing way more of the other team's announcers than Bill and Calvin, I'd say a lot of the other guys pale in comparison. I don't say that to mean that they are just negative towards the Rockets either. I think sometimes the other announcers seem to be more fans of our guys than their own team.
with all the EX Coaches being offered jobs as basketball analysts, they may as well have Rudy T do one guest appearance with Bill " i dont know my stats" worrell and Calvin "i like my loud clothes" murphy.
Hating on Worrell and Murphy???!!??? Try listening to a Spurs game or a Golden State Warriors game. Or nearly any other team on League Pass. I GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL NEVER BASH ON MURPH AND BILL AGAIN. These guys are hilarious and the antagonism at times between the two is classic. Like My Balls, Jessica Simpson's, and Dolly Parton's....these two are a great pair!!!! Drop your bottle of Hatorade.
