This thread is Horrriiibblllee. Why are we talking about THE WORST ANOUNCER in the HISTORY OF BASKETBALL. Yao Ming is the Second Coming. I haven't seen a basketball player like him ever. He has the vision of spy satellite. He will take this game to the next plateau. He will end Communism in China. He is what Dr. Naismith envisioned when he hung his first peach basket. Seriously, Does anyone remember Walton's great comment when John Stocton came off the pick to end the Rockets playoff run in 1997. "UH OH"
Walton is becoming the Madden of basketball. He is trying to be a character by being an extremist. Either he is gushing over you or he dogging you. There is no in between which makes things more interesting.
"in between" is boring. You might hate this thread and Bill Walton but here you are talking about him - and agreeing with him too. He can't be that bad. Bill Walton is EVERYWHERE!!!
There is nothing worse going on in the world of sports and athletics right now than Bill Walton. The exaggeration, the metaphors, the lack of cool- headedness. It is just like watching a 50 car pile up on I-10. Why not bring in somebody like Larry Bird? The brilliance, the poise, the thoughtfullness! He could really make an NBA broadcast some of the best tv viewing in the last 20 years.
I used to hate Walton, even last year when he kept prasing the lakers,, but right now, I think he's kool, hhe, it's a huge change when he actually praises your team.. this is great,, go walton, he cracks me up now..
Okay. Bill Walton is cool. BUT CALVIN MURPHY IS COOLER!!! Please support them because Calvin and Bill Worrell are true Rockets fans. Well they are paid, but Calvin Murphy loves Yao too.
Walton said Dream used to post 44 points 25 boards and 19 blocks night in night out. I don't remember the numbers on blocks that high. Did anyone else hear that
Isn't Bill cool-headed? Somehow I managed to have found this old stuff. Walton likes Yao but isn't sure if he should go No. 1 By DAVID BARRON Copyright 2002 Houston Chronicle After six years of direct answers, definitive opinions and outspoken commentary from Bill Walton, we have finally raised a subject on which the Big Redhead has no opinion. While riding his bicycle from San Diego to Los Angeles -- and, no, I am not making this up -- in preparation for NBC's broadcast today of Game 3 of the NBA Western Conference finals, Walton phoned in to say he has no opinion on whether the Rockets should select Yao Ming with the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft. "I think Yao Ming is going to be a great player in the NBA for many years," Walton said. "Whether you take him with the No. 1 pick, the Rockets are paying Carroll Dawson and other people a lot of money to make a decision like that. "When you look at this NBA draft, I don't think that you see a Kareem Abdul-Jabbar or a Shaquille O'Neal. And for me to say who should be taken No. 1, that is out of my realm of knowledge." Well, you can imagine the shock and confusion, given the fact Walton has never in recent years failed to offer an opinion on anything basketball-related. Pressed on the matter, he finally said: "I don't know what to do. ... If I were making that pick, I wouldn't be on this call." And then ... karma caught up with him. His bike had a flat tire
why are we even discussing him? why not a post on how our new ssmall forward is going to help us ,or how we still need to be more consistent on offense onstop dribbling so much... Bill Walton is not a Rocket fan... anyone remember the spurs/rocks western conference finals several years back when he was at NBC? think about it...
I neva liked the buck toothed giant.....he was always a rockets hater even in our championship years and I neva liked that......He kinda reprieved himself tonight, but man does he like to talk and say stupid stuff or wut?
Forget Walton-isms. Is anyone keepting track of Yao-ism? His one-liners are awesome. Loved his comeback to Barkley's 19-point-ass-kissing quip. I know a thread had started a long while ago. Wonder if there's a way to track it all as the season goes.
