They should understand that mainstream America has an attention span of 15 minutes and doesn't have HBO. They're too busy watching McDreamboat or whatever on Grey's Anatomy.
plus they paint the polygamists as a bunch of wackos. I liked the first episode, I like the premise, I just hope it doesn't cause too much contreversy, and not that I know a lot of people from utah, I hope it treats them fairly. but I guess I could have said the same thing about "The Wire" which deals with black kids from some of the worst ghettos in america, selling drugs, or the very few Italians who are connected in the Sopranos.
I was seriously expecting him to say, "I'll be right back". Gosh, Gennifer Goodwin is yummy. How creepy was the Prophet's new wife?
Big Love didn't really do it for me. I only watched the first half, so maybe I missed something. New Penn and Teller are three weeks away on Showtime and Weeds is coming back. That will help fill my TV void.
Bump. Any thoughts on the show as it's gone on? I'm slowly starting to enjoy it more and more. I think this showdown with Roman will be very interesting.
I have seen about 6 shows and amazing I think Big Love mainly targeted at women in some bizare Lifetime Moment kinda way. They are going to have to add more humor to keep me watching.
too many storylines for me. its not that its hard to follow, its just that much stuff can't be going on. the one thing I liked is how a lot of them are linked. that girl from napoleon dynamite is irritating. i do think the show constantly surprises you which is good. like the guy who broke in bill's office picking up the gay dude and then snapping. hbo definitely thinks outside the box. the guy who plays roman does a great job at being a manipulative, greedy, power hungry old man. that could have gone several ways with that. I like the way they went, that guy is just so sleezy.
I'm hooked. I love everything about it. There are certain things HBO Productions seems to do right. The intro to the show, with the Beach Boys' God Only Knows, is awesome. The casting is superb. I would never have thought to cast several of the main characters. Bill Paxton?? He's perfect! There are so many sub-plots that they could easily spend a couple of seasons exploring half of them. I think it'll run at least that long. This show is another winner for HBO.
still surprised the mormons haven't been all over this. mormons have a reputation of not like black people and i thought it was funny when one of bill's father's wives called condoleeza rice "uppity".
my wife and I love the show. this sunday i said, "im thinking of adding a second wife" and she said, "sounds good to me". Then she added that it would be my third wife because a buddy of mine already lost his wife to me in a poker game.
The shows ok...An interesting dynamic they capture, but not one I have to see every sunday...I've watched everyone except for this past sunday...They need more nudity...
I thought that was the best show last night. bill getting on nikki about lying only to be put in check by his daughter. I really like the daughter (character). She brings sanity to the situation.
