Well, it is essentially August 6th at this point, and that means time to buy some new DVDs.

As it turns out, August 6th is the release date for some fine DVDs including such gems as The Simpsons: Complete Season 2, Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan (2 Disc special edition), V: The Final Battle (not as good as the first miniseries, but still worth watching), Time After Time (and underrated Nicholas Meyer movie from the '70s starring Malcolm McDowell, David Warner and Mary Steenburgen), and a movie I thought was quite funny when I saw it in the theaters earlier this year: SuperTroopers.

So, I suggest you all follow my lead and head on out to wherever you buy your DVDs and stock up on these fine, fine entertainment products.

Some classics take longer to get to the DVD bin.

lord of the rings and simpsons season 2 dvds tomorrow!

one of my fav movies and one of the greatest tv shows ever, so i'll definitely be picking 'em up. plus ive been in some sort of dvd buying mode. anyone else getting these tomorrow? i think sanford and son is out as well, big day!

best buy at the galleria is letting people pick up lotr at midnight, but i'm gonna wait. i don't want to be that much of a loser. :)

i got the second season of soprano's about a week ago and had it finished within 3 days. for those who haven't seen it(get it now) that's 694 minutes of tv in addition to what i usually watch. now that's an addicting show.

anyways, whose been buying dvd's recently?

Don't forget that the official release date for the LOTR 2-DVD set (not the 4-DVD set coming later) is today (the 6th) as well - so, in effect, it's probably one of the best days for DVD releases thus far.

I did forget Lord of the Rings. Just not my kinda movie, so it slipped my mind (and wasn't on my personal list of DVD releases).

But I know there are lotsa people who are LOTR fans.

And Sanford and Son AND The Jeffersons.

So, it's a HUGE DVD day.

i'm not gonna call you a loser for the midnight thing, but dammit not titanic!. j/k

i think the release tomorrow is for people who want the movie as it was released in theaters not with all the extra scenes that the big 4-disc pack is gonna have. also to make lots of money off suckers like myself.

Got my LOTR on preorder @ Best Buy, $15.99 and I got a $10 digital coupon. I am going to use that on a preorder to Van Wilder and get that for $10 after coupon. Im getting Simpsons Season 2 before going to work tommorrow. Also planning to buy this month, The New Guy (love Eliza Dushku), Scream Triology pack (the price goes down on the 20th), and preorder Monsters Inc.

Go test drive a Kia and get a copy of LOTR free... if you don't mind waiting 4-6 weeks for delivery, that is. :)

I got my LOTR DVD today......damn, I forgot how good that movie was. It translates really well onto the small screen, especially with wide-screen. :D
The extras are pretty good, The Two Towers preview is fantastic, although unfortunatly Treebeard won't be seen until the movie is released. But they showed lots of Gollum, and he looks awesome!!!
