I don't think the crowds are that bad, it's just that we've seen the same old stuff...over and over again...like at the Summit/Compaq center, how many times did we see "marching thunder"...

It would seem that we would have 1 good act for every 20 that rolled out at half time...I personally think that it's about $$$ the Rockets don't want to spend money bring in acts. My favorite was the strength guys from Circus du Solei(?)

But I've always thought why not have the top Houston area cheerleading/drill teams to perform...should be better than "Big Bang" and probably they would perform for free...:D

I'm sure some of you will disagree, but I need to respond.

For the fans to boo the entertainment is just plain wrong. Next thing you know the fans will boo the children that compete in those halftime games.

If my son was playing the drums and the fans starting booing him,I would just have to throw down with all of them. :D

I wasn't at the game, but I still feel awful for them. I actually didn't have the stomach to read the whole thread. I got to Jeff's post about how the band was left out to dry, and I just couldn't take it anymore.

Another item to buttress my well-founded opinion that the Rockets' fan relations, food services, and general marketing/publicity machine (including the broadcasting debacle) is a mess.

I hate them. I don't mean to be an ass, but maybe if they didn't suck so bad they wouldn't have gotten booed. If they are still employed, they now realize they must do better.

Entertainment that sucks deserves to be booed. With this logic entertainers, and I use that term loosely, like William Hung would still be touring the country. People need to boo crap so that those in charge know how they feel. Besides, children are different. These guys are adults that suck, so they are fair game for boos. I don't know if they were ever booed prior to Saturdays game, but if they didn't know before then, now they know how people feel.

I guess calling the Rocket's organization and voicing your opinion is out of the question.

Hell, I'm sure most of the Rocket's Org hangs out here.

But to boo them out right when they are trying their hardest just sucks. I mention booing children and you had to trump me with a William Hung. He's a joke period.

It was a bad skit at the WRONG time. Poor decision. We'll use better judgement next time and trust me...it has been addressed.

I would rather see more of Clutch and The RPD than "Big bums" anyday, as a season ticket holder i feel like I am being ripped off with this lackluster halftime and during the game skits.

I don't know which uniform he was wearing (I actually missed halftime) - but I saw him before the game come in the administration entrance out of uniform - plus the high impact squad are his guys.

Bill Worrell just mentioned that Tim was in the building tonight. He said he was working for the NBA now. :(

I bet he meant Tim Frank who used to be the Rockets Director of Media Relations. Tim Frank is working for the NBA now - and has been for the last few years.

Tim McDougall, the Rockets VP of Marketing is still a Rockets employee.

is that a big bang drummer or someone from the rockets organization? anyway, i agree with both jeff and the people who defend the right to boo bad entertainment. it's not right to hire some college kids for next to nothing and put them out there in front of an arena full of people and hope for the best, but at the same time, people pay a lot of money for those seats and deserve quality entertainment. if they don't get that, they have the right to voice their displeasure in the form of boos, written complaints or however they prefer. (with the exception of violence of course)

Calling the Rockets? Why call them when you can let them hear your opinion at the game where they do hang out. The next time I go to a game and the ref makes a bad call, I will be sure to send him a note!

Thanks for pointing that out. Tim Frank was/is hilarious. He did a great job for the Rockets as the media relations director and deserved the job he got with the league.

Nelson Luis is now the media relations guy for the Rockets and has been since Frank left a couple years ago. Previously, Luis held the same position with the PGA Tour.
