I know we live in the moment and you don't often associate basketball with long term health but is anyone else concerned about his physical or mental health in the future? This guy takes a beating. And that's just what we see because it’s usually after a whistle.

I remember one play against Golden State this year, GS set about 4 consecutive screens to get Curry open. And the last one was a bone crusher from ZaZa..

Does the NBA even do regular concussion tests for players like him that go full throttle on defense. No one else plays this hard on D in addition to being a victim to blind screens and dirty plays like this dude. It's amazing and scary to see when you think about it.

I've never seen a player get crushed by so many screens

no doubt that Draymond and Zaza would try to end Beverley's life if we were to meet GS in the WCF

If Beverley played with any less intensity he wouldn't be that valuable meaning he'd be your average NBA player. His value is his instincts and his fighter mentality. Not many players offer what he does which is why he got paid. Don't ask him to change. He's a man among b****es.

Not really no, this isn't the nfl, and the guys in days past in the nba got hit much harder without long term consequences. Only if he did something stupid like Mchale and played on an injury knowing it would have long term consequences.

Didn't Artest get thrown out just a few minutes later for threatening Kobe with what looked like at the time a 'slit throat' gesture? That was a brutal series.

I'm not worried about Bev's health any longer. He's proven once again his value and appears to be the same player he was pre-injury as long as he keeps his weight down.

I'm worried about Bev's next contract now.

Next summer he'll be thirty years old. I'd imagine his market would START at 4/50 and go up from there and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if some team wanted to pay him $15 million or more per season. That's a lot of money for a guy going into his thirties that basically plays like a star NFL linebacker that opponents are constantly trying to knock out of the game by shooting at his knees. If he gets another serious ding to one of his knees in the first or second season and cannot get all his speed, agility, and quickness back then we are stuck like chuck. Because on a long term deal at that kind of money he's only just fair value if he is totally healthy, in shape, and kitchens to his max capacity. If he's dinged and it permanently degrade him then his contract becomes s boat anchor over night.

The best teams make contract decisions with their head, not their heart. If I were a GM I'd have to think long and hard about paying Bev big money on his next deal. I'd be shopping him this summer, pre-draft and post draft if necessary, just as we shopped him last summer. His trade value is at its peak. He could help land us a superstar that could be a key piece in moving us toward true championship contending status. That's a cold, hard decision made with my head, taking my heart out of the equation. Because Bev shill have earned every dime he makes on his next deal before he plays one game of it.

You've got 2 more seasons to start "worrying" about Bev's new extension and that last one is a team option.

    Patrick Beverley '16-17 / $6,000,000 -- '17-18 / $5,513,514 -- '18-19 / $5,027,028

I say atm just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Ah, you're right. I forgot about the non-guaranteed season. Good catch mate. So it's not pending on us in a year. And that non-guaranteed final season does make him even more attractive in a trade.

Kobe elbowed artest right in the throat 'boxing' out before a rebound. Artest wasn't having it and got into Kobe's face. I don't think artest got ejected though.
