Who is better? I'm curious what you all think. Personally I think a HEALTHY TMac = Dwyane Wade and Yao has definitely eclipsed Shaq. Obviously Miami's supporting cast is a lot better than the Rox but it isn't one that should be too difficult to match (basically some hired veteran mercenaries).
Scoreboard. Shaq/Wade is better. ...but going into next season, I'll take our guys over theirs ...assuming TMac is healthy.
well miami just won a championship so obviously they're better or atleast their team is. that said, i agree with you in that a healthy mcgrady at the minimum is wade's equal and yao is better than shaq and climbing. we have two great pieces we'll just have to see how much we can put around them. it's funny saying this coming out of the lottery but we absolutely can compete next year.
If you ask this question on a general basketball board, I think the result will be like 65%-35% in favour of Wade-Shaq mainly because of Wade's superhuman performance in this NBA final. Since this question is asked on this board, I think the final result will be around 80%-20% in favour of Yao-Tmac.
Do you really believe that? I would say it is a stretch that he is Wade's equal. I am as big a Rocket fan as the next person, but I mean Wade just made himself an argument that he is the best player in the game today. I think T-Mac at best is Wade's equal, likely he is a notch below. And that is not a bad thing.
Well regardless of which duo is better - it seems that a healthy TMac and Yao should be able to win a championship. Miami kind of proved it. Building a supporting cast that matches Miami's should not be too difficult. 3 of their rotation guys (Walker, GP, JWilliams) were probably not wanted by a lot of teams (hell - I still wouldn't take any of those guys). Excited about next year.
I would definitely go with Yao and TMac right now, but the question has a lot of BUTs. I mean I love Yao and TMac, but a Shaq in his prime and DWade, would be a lot tougher call and I would have to go towards the Shaq/Wade combo. But as of right now, I would go with the young and upcoming Yao over the age and declining Shaq. And TMac is can match Wade's scoring abilities on any night. What Wade has over Tmac with his speed, Tmac has over Wade with that amazing jumper, which many NBA experters agree that he shoots and HITS the toughest and most contested jumpers in the league. So its a very interesting question and good comparison. What it also clearly shows us is how weak and pathetic the rest of our squad is. If we have a duo that is as amazing and talented as the two that won the NBA championship, why is it that we have been on vacation since December? I know we had a season full of mishaps and injuries, but we still need major improvements!
