Going off Rocket River's thread, where can you get a damn good salad in Houston? For me, the Iceberg Wedge at Vic & Anthony's is pretty much a "must order" anytime I go there. Cavatore Italian will do a Caesar Salad right at your table, which makes for a great presentation on a date. Damn good salad, too. Reef's Steamed Shrimp Salad is strong, as well. From their website: "This warm salad of butter-poached shrimp, pea shoots, haricot vert and spiced pecans is tossed in a sherry vinaigrette and champagne buerre blanc" And BRC makes a burger salad that has received rave reviews since its inception. Burger pieces and fries over Romaine lettuce, avacodo and bacon and topped off with a house-made smoked cheddar ranch dressing. Get some bacon jelly on the side if you're feeling truly gluttenous. What are some of your favorites?
Man Cavatore's is one I'll have to disagree with you on. I've tried it twice with Makayla and both times we thought everything we ordered was just plain awful. I love the Chicken Caesar salad at La Madeline. The tableside Greek salad at Pappa's Seafood is awesome. Also, the sashimi salad at Kenny and Ziggy's is pretty badass.
For the price, Little Papa's Greek salad tossed at the table and Star Pizza's "Natural Garden Salad" with their House Italian Dressing are hard to beat. That Italian Dressing recipe is awesome -- tart, garlicy and with sharp parmesan. For upscale, I usually don't get a salad appetizer, but I'll add t'afia's "endive & cremini mushroom, bleu cheese, spicy pecans, white balsamic-white truffle vinaigrette"
Potbelly....Wreck Salad....they have a few other really good ones, but that's my favorite. They're also reasonably priced for the amount you get, and you can get those awesome peppers in them. Pugs
