Goodness, how could I forget Scarface.

    The Fix - classic.

Also, I'm sure many of you are familiar with De La Soul.

I want this thread to turn into a "Best Rap Producer" thread:

    1. Neptunes
    2. DJ Premier
    3. Dre
    4. Kanye
    5. Timbaland

off the top of your head? raekwon's album was gold, but i figured a couple of the other members' albums were better.

    1. gza
    2. odb & meth tie.
    3. raekwon

didn't mess with bobby digital or ghost's stuff. seemed too far out there.

back to the thread... i guess i'm into rappers with distinguishable styles. biggie was my all-time fav and mase just has that goofy arse charm about him. sooooo... biggie is my answer.

i'm the complete opposite of moe. i have more haterade for west coast rap. back in the days, i was more into jeru the damaja, artifacts, roots, beatnuts, wu-tang, etc.

The westcoast gets a lot of hate, mostly in part to the manufactured type beats that all sound the same.

Has anyone heard Jedi Mind Tricks out of philly?

Those guys confuse the **** out of me, they talk about being muslims, but they reference the Bible constantly, then they talk about burning down churches and then they talk about killing the devil-worshippers.

That album is very slept on. The song Verbal Intercourse with Nas is sick.

As far as rappers goes, right now Nas is my favorite rapper. I'm waiting for the new album next week.

    My top 5 producers:

    1. Premier
    2. Pete Rock
    3. Neptunes
    4. Dre
    5. Hi- Tek (even though he's not on the scene as much)

I am not saying this to be a smart ass, or be disrespectful...I really mean this: I think this thread is why Clutch Fans is so great. You have more than a few hardcore republicans who show a really impressive knowledge of hip-hop. It also makes it clear why hip-hop culture is so dominant. The I-got-mine, bling-bling culture of recent hip-hop is not that different from the greed-is-good strand of the right wing, but they are not necessarily two groups you would throw together. I'm going to call this progress.

    :D

    Murder was the case
    Doggy Dogg world
    What's my name
    Gin and Juice

"Drop it like it's hot" is a KILLER!

He's commercial and still one of the most prolific lyricists ever.

BTW I hate what Jimmy Kimmel does to him.

That's nothing. I heard a commercial of him hawking a So Cal car dealership the other day. I mean, rappers doing deodorant ads are bad enough, but radio car commercials?

Nomar says creed is the ****.

    Anyway, Creed sucks.

    And with my take.

I can't say what is good, but i can say what sucks. And what sucks is the rappers from NOLA. The entire cash money thing sucks. No Limit and Master P sucks.

Everytime somebody from the cash money camp has a song, it's the same old ****. Same ol name brand, designer dropping song, same ol cars, this time the rim size increase by an inch. I hate how they name drop something, and because they did that, whatever brand they name it gets real popular. And then loser dork ends up wearing that gear, and you have to throw it back in the back of the closet. Man that sucks. I hate trendy **** like that.
Maybe thats my inner punk rock inside of me.

But basically, the songs about the cars and money gets old quick, Yet people keep eating it up, and it wont go away.

It is beyond me how Percy Miller made half a billion dollars peddling his ****ty music, but I have to admire that. His music sucked, and everything he has ever put out is a copy of something else.

    MARKETING
As a business man . . .I have the UTMOST respect for P
you right . .. his music has been down hill since "Bout it Bout it"
    i think the major difference
is he was one of the 1st to get a DISTRIBUTION DEAL
    instead of a Label Deal
so he kept like 85% of the profits
instead of the usual company screw over profits

Labels generally get *ss loads of the profits
    You sell 100 000 on your own . . .u make more
money than selling a million with a Label
