Reading through the best burgers thread I started to wonder about Houston's best pizza. I hardly stray far from your basic local pizza chains (dominos, pizza hut, little cesars).

Any recommendations on where to find a good pizza in town?

I think Star Pizza right off Shepherd and 59 is the best, hands down. I miss the fact that I no longer live in their delivery area.

Boondoggles brick oven pizza in Seabrook Rocks.

People may say Star pizza, it's been a Houston staple. I think it's overrated though.

Thin crust: Kennealey's (SIC?), Tiny Boxwoods or Capones

I like Fuzzy's and Grimaldi's (the Woodlands) as well.

I think all of the following are pretty good.

    Fuzzy's
    Romano's
    Brothers
    Ponzo's
    Dolce Vita
    Candelari's

Star Pizza is good, but I'll have to go with 1a. Fuzzys with 1b. Brother's Pizza.

Star Pizza is an obvious choice. Ponzo's in midtown is also pretty good as well.

    fuzzy's is probably my fave.

dominoes has zoomed past papa john's in my mind as the best major chain. whatever they changed in their recipe really worked.

i gave barry's a few chances, but i just don't like their sauce. it's too zesty for my taste.

To which Fuzzy's locations do you guys recommending it go?

Is Star Pizza the same as the one on Washington? I vote for that one.

When I was younger and probably during my high school years, Spanky's near Gulfgate was pretty good, I recall.

The best pizzas I have ever had have been out of town, and I don't know the names of the places. As far as chains go I like Mellow Mushroom.

I have never liked Star pizza and never understood why anyone would call it the best pizza. Their pizza is mediocre at best. The only reason I can think of that people would vote for them is because they have weird pizzas with vegetables on 'em (like spinach pizza).

For real pizza, Fuzzy's is the best. Romano's gets my vote for best all-around mom-and-pop Italian restaurant.

Pink's Pizza and Barry's Pizza would be my choices.

IMO, Italian/pizza is the only variety of food Houston is lacking in. The only pizza place in town that I would put in the "very good" category is Romano's on West Gray.
