i agree with the earlier post that usual suspects kind of sucked..

in fact i had seen the beginning several times and always managed to fall asleep..

i then went ahead and rented it determined to see it until the end

man that was brutal and the payoff was minimal.

i think if you see ferris bueller now or you watch weird science at the time you think this was a great flick then you see it later and think cheese central..

i think maybe usual suspects was good when it came out at the theather and doesnt play as well as it used to..

    just an opinion

God, best movie endings, and no one is mentioning Casablanca, the Maltese Falcon, the Third Man, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid ( although props goes to whoever mentioned The Sting), Chinatown, Being There, or Dr. Strangelove!?!?!?

Planet of the Apes had one of the greatest endings ever!

    Scarface deserves a nomination :D`

Yuck. Most of those movies aren't even in color. Why would we care about them. :p

If we're including great ending lines too, then Some like it Hot and The Lady Eve is right up there too.

    The Godfather - "Don Corleone."

The Godfather Part II - The most chilling, haunting final image I've ever seen in a movie.

The Empire Strikes Back - Greatest twist ending in film history other than the original Planet of the Apes.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service - James Bond's wife Tracy is tragically killed by a vengeful Blofeld.

The Shawshank Redemption - "I hope."

The Game - It really was just a game.

A Clockwork Orange - "I was cured alright."

Citizen Kane - So THAT'S what Rosebud meant!

The Sixth Sense...hands down the most surprised I've ever been with an ending.

    5) Fight Club - the two characters are actually only one.
    4) Memento - he tricked himself into the mystery that he had already solved.
    3) The Game - a game
    2) The Usual Suspects - wraps it all up with all the clues.
    1) ARLINGTON ROAD - the most unexpected and least desireable ending - yet, in a bitter kinda way - it was refreshing to have something different happen.

Casablanca is my favorite movie of all time, and one of my favorite endings.

A common myth is that Bergman wasn't told until the last day who she would end up with, so she had to play loving them both. I think, however, due to the movie code, it couldn't have ended with her staying with Rick Blaine as she was married to Victor Lazlow.
