Ahhh, yes...This Image Is Unavailable...that fantastic debut album with such memorable hits as "Don't Steal My Image (Because You Stole My Heart)", "Copyright Schmopyright", and "Nasty E-mail From a Webmaster Blues"
Appetite for Destruction - Guns N' Roses Oh and Manny, as pretentious, Amazon hot lists, and Googlistic as your music collection and tastes seems to be, you're a complete idiot if you let some unfounded distaste for Axl Rose prevent you from experiencing some amazing music. Love, coma
basso with that beautiful booming bass of a voice you have I can just see you singing right along with Paul!
1.) gang of four - "entertainment" 2.) devo - "q: are we not men? a: we are devo." 3.) butthole surfers - "psychic, powerless, another man's sac" 4.) van halen - s/t minutemen - "the punch line" big boys - "where's my towel/industry standard" television - "marquee moon" talking heads - "77"
LOL, if there is nothing worse than the pretentious W. Axyl Rose, it is FANS of W. Axyl Rose. Sorry dude, we'll just have to agree to disagree on this. Bogey - "Paul's Boutique" was their 2nd album; "Licensed to Ill" came before it.
AC/DC's first album was "'74 Jailbreak". And I'll add the GnR's Appetite for Destruction was a kick-ass album.
'74 Jailbreak was actually released in 1984. It contained songs from some of their early Australian recordings. "High Voltage" was their first US album - perhaps not a legit "debut" album though, I concede.
To be fair, I started listening to the in 1984. That said, I was always told that Dirty Deeds came before High Voltage.
Another good one and the only album this band did (technically there was an EP but it is tacked onto this album) is Operation Ivy's "Operation Ivy (Energy)".
Personal favorites that I can listen to any time and am still not sick of. Some fairly universally accepted, others not so much... Uncle Tupelo - "No Depression" Son Volt - "Trace" (I really wish I could put "A.M." as well, but I just can't) Liz Phair - "Exile In Guyville" NIN - "Pretty Hate Machine" Mary's Danish - "There Goes The Wondertruck" Guns 'N' Roses - "Appetite" Dread Zeppelin - "Un-Led-Ed", no joke, I really love this album X - "Los Angeles", I figured since The Ramones & The Clash were here, I'd try to thwart any East Coast Bias Maggie's Dream - "S/T" Sugar - "Copper Blue" Whiskeytown - "Stranger's Almanac" ZZ Top - "ZZ Top's First Album", I am from Texas after all... P.S. Whoever listed the Arc Angels album, I am indebted to, that is one of those albums I always say to mysef "Oh damn, I have to get that" & then promptly forget about it completely whenever I walk in a record store. I'm going to try to find it on Amazon tonight.
