Okay, we don't know what happens with Hakeem after this season, but at this point -- what is your best memory of the great one? For me -- abusing David Robinson SO badly in 95. It was just sick and totally demoralizing. And David Robinson won the MVP? hahahaha!! ------------------ What can change the nature of a man?
Years ago when he was just a freshman at UH, he was interviewed and they asked what he liked about basketball. He answered - "I like to Donk and Donk and Donk". (make dunk rhyme with honk) ------------------
Considering the events as of yesterday I think a new thread on this is warrented. I just found out yesterday how lucky I was to attend the Dallas game a couple of weeks ago in Dallas. It is probably the last time I will ever see Dream play ball. It is certainly the last time I will see him live. As far as my most memorable Dream memories...there are 6: 1. A game against Arkansas when he was a Cougar. I think Joe Kline was the other center. Anyway Dram looked like he swatted two dozen shots. 2. The finale play against NC State in the NCAA championship. I know it is not a good memory but it sticks out. That is the biggest heartbraker of a loss I have ever had to endure. I am a Cowboys fan and that loss was worse to me than the catch by Dwight Clark in the 81 NFC championship game or the Jakie Smith dropped TD catch in Super Bowl 12. 3. The time Dream slugged Billy Paultz when the Rockets were playing Utah in the mid 80s play-offs. All the other players and the refs were at the other end of the court except Dream and Paultz. I guess Dream got pissed and slugged Paultz right in the kisser. Dream then ran down the court and joined his team in the offense while Paultz lay on the floor. The fans (it was in Utah) and the Jazz bench were going nutz but no foul was called as none of the refs saw it. One of the funniest things I think I ever saw. 4. The 49 pt explosion against the Sonics in the play-offs at the end of the 80s. The Sonics won behind the sharpshooting Dale Ellis and Tom Chambers but it took two overtimes. It was a great individual performance by dream but I think that was the game that convinced Dream that he could not do it all alone. 5. The 95 western conference finals. Never before has that seasons MVP been so abused by another NBA player as David Robinson was by Dream over the whole series. David Robinson has not been the same player since. Fact. 6. His last game against the Mavericks in 01. Dream turned back the clock and scored 27 pts and grabbed 10 rebounds. Thank god I was there to see it one last time. It was also my 8 year old sons first live basketball game. He can always say he saw the Dream and saw him dominate and he saw it with me! Life is good! So long Dream I am going to miss you! ------------------ [This message has been edited by crash5179 (edited March 14, 2001).]

The three pointer at the end of the 95 finals always sticks out to me. ------------------ Arkansas' Biggest Rocket Fan!
