    Since we're continuing themes

    50's
The breakout decade for sitcoms, "I love Lucy", "The Honeymooners" etc.

    60's
Highlighted by such classics as "Bewitched", "Gilligan's Island", "Beverly Hill Billies" etc. Really this decade almost has too many good ones to name.

    70's
Highlited by some true groundbreakers, "All In the Family", "Taxi", "MASH", and "Goodtimes"

    80's
Continuing the Family Theme, "Cosby Show", "Family Ties", and also classics such as "Cheers"

    90's
This decade is saved by "Seinfeld"

    Probably the 70s.

80s are vastly overrated. I can't even watch shows like Cosby or Family Ties now. Terrible.

Well, I grew up watching Family Ties, Cosby Show, Cheers, Who's the Boss, and Growing Pains so I'll go with the 80's.

90's, definately. You left out Friends and The Simpsons.

Before Seinfeld came out, my all-time favorite was Three's Company, late 70's, early 80's.

Would have been nice to see the 00's too. We're in the 7th year of the decade, so I think that gives us a good sample of sitcoms to vote on (Malcom in the Middle, Raymond, etc).

    70's.

Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, Three's Company, The Brady Bunch, and of course, the greatest sitcom in the history of mankind (including Seinfeld)......

Cheers and Night Court are the only decent sitcoms from the 80's I can think of. Married With Children debuted in '87, but hit its prime in the 90's when Christina Applegate started getting hot and Ted McGinley came on board.

Nobody can touch the 80's when it comes to action/drama series, though. Night Rider, A-Team, MacGuyver, Miami Vice, The Fall Guy...

That is a good point. That 70s Show started then, too.

The Bob Newhart Show seals the 70s for me, though.

No question it was the 1970's. You had All In the Family, Sanford And Son, Taxi, The Jeffersons, MASH, Good Times, What's Happening, Soap, Maude, and the best years of Three's Company.

All of the other decades combined do not have as many great sitcoms as the 1970's.

Plus, Newhart gives a vote to the 80s for the best series finale ever!

I thought I was the cat's ass back in the day when my parents would let me stay up and watch Newhart and Hill Street Blues.

I grew up watching the 80s sitcoms so I picked that group. The Cosby Show has been the only show that I truly looked forward to watching every week.
