I usually hate TV commercials, but with all the buzz around Quizno's recent ad campaign, I feel I must give credit to Nike for their latest commercial. It is truly outstanding and mesmerizing.

ESPN has run it during "Sportscenter" all week long, and I always stop to watch.

Lance Armstrong as a boxer. Andre Agassi playing for the Red Sox. Serena Williams on the pro volleyball circuit. Mike Vick and Brian Urlacher on an NHL franchise. There might be more, I can't remember.

    Simply awesome!

Yep, it was one amazing commercial..
the one that you re missing is marion jones doing gymnastics...

The "hands down" best part was when little Andre Agassi did his best Derek Jeter impersonation by catching a grounder to third and flinging it to first...his contorting frog legs movement was priceless...

    It IS a great commercial.

I also like the fact that they incorporated these guys "natural talents" into the other sports they played.

    Agassi - He's hitting left-handed, which if you're a right-hander playing tennis, is a two-handed backhand.

Serena - her motion on her volleyball serve is EXACTLY like her tennis serve.

Urlacher - Brute strength in the cross-check, just like tackling somebody.

Vick - Breakaway speed on his goal... just like running for the endzone.

Lance - Only thing I could think of here is endurance... but it doesn't fit as well as the others.

There's also Marion Jones as a gymnast, but obviously its not as dramatic (in fact, I'm sure there are some people here who think Marion Jones IS a gymnast).

They're using some awesome new technology that allows them to superimpose these guys in real situations... and it looks flawless.

One question though... why do I want to buy the shoes?

    CRAP!

Thanks boomboom! I can't believe I forgot that. His pitching delivery in the use of bowling... and that smug Pete Weber getting his just desserts!

I cant believe i forgot that too...

The moment that the Unit sits down and is still towering over a standing Weber is another priceless moment.

    Ah! Big Unit!

Actually, out of all of the stars, I actually think his scene was done without any special effects.

    He actually was bowling.

There will soon be a new Tiger Woods commercial in which he plays the Bill Murray character from Caddyshack. I think it will be shown during the Oscars Sunday.

    The Nike one is excellent.

My current fave is where the parents have taken aptitude tests that say they should be rock stars.

You gotta check out the wallpapers on Nike's website for the commercial.

    Lots of nice little touches:

    - Randy Johnson's bowling ball says "Big Unit"
    - Lance has a "Big Tex" tattoo

    - Oh, and Serena Williams got back...

One of my favorites right now is for Southwest Airlines. It's played a lot during the Rockets broadcast.

Dude is in an office next to a co-worker and says "you are beautiful" and the woman, thinking he is talking to her says "I've always found you attractive too". It turns out the guy was on a phone and turns to the woman and says "excuse me?". The look on his face is priceless.
