do you have to smoke crack before posting these days....

Steve is not going to be benched.... did you guys miss the Suns game.... the majority of the playbook JVG runs is thru Steve, you don't bench Steve without that having a make effect on the playbook.....sure his shot was off and terry tore him up... but his going to continue to start and contribute

Oh, come on. Francis was terrible last night.

Hypothetically, if a PG who averaged 21 shots, 25% from the field, but did manage 9 assists and 2 TO's per game hit the market...

...nobody would be interested in the entire NBA. When you shoot that poorly and insist on taking that many shots... it doesn't matter what else you do.

If Robert Horry had hit that 3 pointer against the Spurs last year in the playoffs after he was bricking every single shot, do you think the credit should have went to Horry rather than Shaq and Kobe who were the guys who scored the bulk of the points?

No, not at all, but he has to be credited for getting us over the line. When it boils down to it, if he missed that shot we would have lost the game, regardless if he had scored 3 points or 30. Those kinds of pressure shots are the most difficult to make and he came through with the goods.

I wish you guys could leave The Franchise alone for a half season or more.

i was only talking about the TOs. 3 TOs in 50+ minutes isnt bad.

Credit for hitting the 3 pointer that won the game? Yes.

Just like he got credit for hitting one shot vs. the Spurs that won the game in the 96 WCF.

Does it pain you to give credit where it's due? Or is it just unique to Francis?

I give credit to guys who make shots consistently and not just one shot. Sometimes an undue amount of credit gets thrown to a player like Aaron Boone of the Yankees for hitting that homerun against the Red Sox, but it was the key hits from other members of the Yankees who carried the team through that series. Fortunately, Steinbrenner only rewarded Aaron Boone with a 1 year contract knowing he would be stupid to give out a multi-year contract to a guy who can't produce consistently. He tore up his knee anyway.

Thats what he has done for his entire career as a rocket. he's been the go to man. Now he's having a bad season and lost confidence and everyone is jumping on his back. What people dont realise is that its highly unlikely that he is going to stay in this slump forever and he will return to play as good as he did before, if not better. He may never pass as well as marc jackson, but MJ will never shoot as well as steve or be as athletic as steve. You've got to look at the allround package.

I swear that I'm beginning to believe that every poster on this board is Superhuman and have never had a bad day, month, year, or life. Steve has faults, agreed. Steve has skills too and has proven them over the last 5 years. He's not the prototype PG and he's not cut to play major minutes at SG. But we know he's capable of 20,6,6. Let the guy breathe a little and find his game again. I remember not long ago, Kelvin Cato was the whipping dog and he's not near the talent of SF.

I dont always agree with the play of sf, but when he is on he is on. Our team is better with him on the floor. You crazy man!!

His career as a dribble drive penetrator into the paint dramatically changed when the zone defense was allowed 3 years ago. What he did in his 2nd year will never be replicated again possibly for his entire career due to the inability to score consistently against a zone defense which guards the paint with a wall of defenders.

Coaches in the NBA are slowly catching on. Jerry Sloan has said that he is using the zone defense now to take advantage of teams with brickers.

Francis is still an important part of the Rockets. I liked how he played his butt off last night against the hawks, those are the intangibles that we need to win.

I don't agree to bench Steve and start Mark.Remeber last time they lost in PHO.If start Mark ,because of his low ability of pointing .the others will have little pressure in this guard.

some of you people are so irrational... bench steve!??? WTF are you somking, seriously... like it or not, STEVE is still the best player on our team right now, even if he is in a slump! Get off his ass and lets see what happens! Jesus Christ, have you even noticed we are on our way to the playoffs? Have you even noticed our current record is the best its been since the 97 season? They will make the playoffs this year and thats all we should expect! Making the playoffs is nothing more than "practice" for next year, when I expect this team to really gel under Van Gundy. We all know the Rockets are not going to compete for a title this year, so why don't we quit bashing them and show a little support!!! This is supposed to be a fan site, so quit acting like your opinions are gonna make any difference. The trade deadline is over.... no moves will be made until next season. Let's not strategise what our next move will be until then, okay. God, I cannot believe the number of people who have enough time on their hands to come up with these stupid a$$ trade proposals or suggestions of "benching STEVE!" Heres a newflash... none of us will ever be the GM of the Rockets, so lets stop the dumbass ideas of benching an ALL STAR.

Only plays with Hakeem's ability can work it as well

    I think also
Hakeem had more and better 3 pt shooters

you know what? everyone jumps all over Francis and Mobley for taking ill-advised shots, and not running the offense properly. But Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili are even worse than our gaurd combo in my point of view. They both rush shots and make pretty dumb passes. No doubt, they are good. But Im sure if we had that guard combo, we would still be whining and crying for a trade. Everyone needs to shut up and be content with the incredible talent we have on our team. Teams damn near piss in there pants when they play us, we have so many threats.. I think we will make some noise and definately shock alot of people in the playoffs.
