He will have high TO's as long as he plays heavy minutes at the pg. It's the nature of the game. I'm not defending them, and STeve should definitely cut down on them. It's going to happen. It happens to most pg's.

Do you think Mark Jackson is going to play starters minutes at the PG?

So now not only is Steve responsible for his own turnovers, he gets credit for Yao's too.

let's face it. the team is winning out of pure luck. they don't hv a character yet. they get scrambled easily with a class B defense.

This is for sure the stupist thread of all time. Bench steve? Did you bench your brain? Come on, Steve is the only player on this team that gives Yao the ball more times than not. Steve tells yao to post up so he can get to ball from him or other players. I hate mark Jackson, dude stands behind the 3 point line and then fires up a medicine ball to the rim. Jackson is only good to give francis a 3-5 min rest a game. Jackson was the reason we lost to the Mavs and if dude gets extended playing time he is gonna kill the Rockets with his great grandpa defense and his terrible shooting. The fact that you want to bench steve only solidifies your spot as the dumbest Rocket fan in team history.

If you've watched much basketball involving a post offense you would know that you don't feed the post from the top but from the left or right.

Fiction: Francis hurts the offense and Jackson runs it better

Fact: We outscore our opponents by 4.9 ppg when he's on the court and they outscore us by 4.5 when he's off.
When Jackson is on we score 5 ppg less than our opponents and when Jackson is off we score 3.8ppg more.

There is no other player on the team whose presence on court affects the difference in scores as much as Steve Francis. I think the guy must be doing something right.

Steve doesn't have confidence in his 3 point shot. I notice whenever our backcourt is passing out around the perimeter after dumping it into Yao looking for an open man to shoot a 3, when it gets to Steve and he's open he doesn't opt to shoot the 3. Instead he waits for his defender to approach him, and try to go around him for a 20 foot contested jumper instead of open 3 pointer. It'd be so nice if he was shooting 45% or atleast career average which I know is above 40%. He'd be another perimeter threat our opponents would have to honor to open up more passing lanes and more single coverage on Yao. Or atleast weaker double coverage.

Let's wait and see how they finish in the first round of the playoffs.

Playoffs are for teams with balls. If they don't get swept, I'll buy you a game ticket for the second round. How's that?

but the only problem with your logic is yao != hakeem. A minor error in judgment.

I don't judge a player by looking at one game. He played well last night though.

The only game ticket I could use would be if they were playing LA. Sadly I wont' be able to attend any Rockets Playoff games this year.

But I agree about waiting and seeing how they finish in the Playoffs. I don't even know if they'll make it to the second round. What I want is for them to get in the playoffs, play very hard and be competitive. If they win a series that's amazing, but if they get the experience and learn what the playoffs is really all about, then that will be the starting place for next year.

Who said Yao is Hakeem? Are you saying that only low post players of Hakeem's ability can operate in the inside-out offense?

His game might be off FOR THE MOMENT, but he hit it when it counted against the hawks. He's a clutch player and I am happy for the ball to be in his hands when the game is on the line

I am not for benching Steve and think he can be valuable on this team, BUT

We need to improve in 3 areas and this team will add 3-5 more wins to their total:

    1. work it to Yao a lot more....learn that teams have to sag on him and will...

    2. quit turning the ball over

    3. No matter what happened last night, Steve is still one of the worse passers in the league as measure by total assists and assist to turnover ratio combined. he is not even in the top 75 in the league....this is doomsday for the rockets...even lower assist and poor assist-turnover teams like SA have players in the top 25.
