From an article in today's Chronicle about another lawsuit related to the KMart fiasco: Senior Assistant City Attorney Robert Cambrice said the city has not been served with any of the lawsuits filed so far. He could not estimate what the liability for the city could be. "Each case has to stand on its own," Cambrice said. "If a person claims to see a doctor or psychiatrist over this and other factors." He added, "But no one was beaten, shot or clubbed." http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.hts/metropolitan/1589249 I am trying to understand what City Attorney Robert Cambrice is saying. Maybe somebody can help me out. I think he's saying that we should be proud of the fact that none of Houston's Finest physically abused the lowlife scumbags who happened to be shopping at KMart late at night. Uhhh, no, that doesn't seem right. I guess he's saying that because these people weren't beaten, shot, or clubbed, that these are all just frivolous lawsuits, another example of lawsuit abuse, and that these trespassers should count their lucky stars because they were merely arrested, thrown in jail, and their cars towed for going to Sonic late at night. Hmmmm, no, that's not it either. Oh, now I get it. Robert Cambrice is a freakin' moron. He should be beaten, shot, and clubbed.
He is saying that the people involved have no grounds to claim any physical or emotional damages, since the actions of the police were not severe enough.
