I know this was a tough series, physical at times, heated, and therefore fans startin hating opposing players....but take a lesson from your team. They were able to shake the hands of the Lakers, not just shake, but also took time to say some good words and didnt just walk off the court in disgust or without saying a word. I hope us fans can separate game intensity from real life. I see a lot of hateful posts attacking the Lakers, which is expected, but remember it's not about attacking them personally. If you want to single out certain plays, then fine, but it's not about wishing the worst on them just because we had some tough breaks this season. If you hate Kobe because of Colorado or his arrogance, then that's one thing...but i see guys hating on someone like Gasol for simply doing his job on the court....those are two different things.. Also remember it wouldn't be the worst thing for us if LA won the ring, especially if we're the only team that took them 7 along the way. That being said, it would also be nice if we could hold back from personally attacking OUR OWN PLAYERS...the lack of a star, height, and centers were very tough disadvantages for them to overcome, take that into consideration before calling someone dumb or stupid for not making a certain play when it had more to do with their physical limitations than decision making. And that goes not just for Brooks and Battier, but also scola, landry, hayes, barry, etc..injuries created tough matchups and mismatches and that affects all players, not just the positions that are mismatched.
Well, i'm not a very excitable person. I don't know for sure what happened in Colorado or what Kobe's personality really is. I DO know he got some elbows and knees in on Shane while he was on the ground in game 1. I DO know Scola took a few cheap shots from Pau. If there was ever a reason to hate them those would be my reasons. I don't hate them though.
I haven't seen anyone complain about LA today. I'm not hating on LA. I just don't want to talk about this series anymore. Sorry if It came off as rude.
There were some things said in the game thread, as well as over the course of this series....my point is that it's one thing to hate a player who's really just a bad person and has shown it, and it's another to hate them for getting caugh tup in a game and throwing an extra bow or push. A perfect example was Scola pushing Odom towards the end, he gave him like 3 or 4 pushes in row...Laker fans are probably going after him for that, just like we'd go after a Laker if he did that....but is that a reason to hate them forever or consider them dirty or whatver every time they play from now on? I dont think it is...just leave it on the court..if any of us have played ball before, things get heated, even when playing with friends, but at the end of the day it's a game and you move on..if the rockets can do it, and they were the ones being pushed and elbowed, why can't the fans?
Reasons to hate them: They are lead by the biggest douche in basketball, have r****ded girl Sasha on the bench, they got lucky with the most lopsided trade in recent memory, and they rep the lame city of Los Angeles and idiotic bandwagoners everywhere. They're going down, if not in the WCF in the Finals, and I'm going to enjoy it.
I guess it was too much of me to ask for....should we be hated on too because we got Ron for Bjax and Greene? Should we be seen as a bad organization for making the team better?
RV6, you sir, is a classy person. We fans have to learn how to take defeat like a man and the continuous vicious attack on our own players on this board is definitely not warranted. The Lakers were too good for us today - we do not have to like them but we must remain classy.
This is a Rockets board. We root for the Rockets. If you want to root for the Lakers there is a board for that. If you want world peace there is a board for that. There is no need to be jerks but hating on the Lakers pretty much became mandatory for Rockets fans after their dirty play in game 2.
The Rockets are a classy organization and always have been, even when they were winning with Rudy, Akeem and Drexler, they remained humble. The Lakers on the other hand are not at all likable. Kobe is always trashing his own players and is a cry baby. Jackson has the rings only because of MJ and Kobe/Shaq. Adelman is actually a better coach. Now I will root for Denver and Cleveland.
Yeah they were classy I stood up and cheered for the team at the end. Lakers fans coming out of staples were anything but classy
The stat that was brought up the other night is telling: in the past four years, Artest has had 15 technical fouls. In that same four years, the golden child Kobe has had 55 ... three and a half times as many. In fact, the last time he had less than 10 techs in a season, he was too young to drink legally. So once again, please tell me -- reputation notwithstanding -- who is actually the dirtier, more thuggish player: Ron or Kobe?
Like i said, the rockets themselves showed this class after the game. Are they "rooting" for LA because of it? Of course not, you can hate a team within the context of basketball, but some of these fans out here probably would kick Gasol's kid if they had a chance to just because they hate the Lakers. I'm all for humiliating them on the court, being physical, knockking them down, etc., but I also can see that one a personal level, away from this matchup some of them, if not most of them, are still good people. so like you said, no need to be a jerk, but you can still "hate" the lakers..
You heard how classy the Laker fans were when they started that "Houston Sucks" chant during the game. Meanwhile, our supposedly "Sucky" team brought them to a game 7 without our key players and no real center.
