3 of the top 6, is there any doubt the SEC is the best conference in college this year? The biggest surprise is how low Notre Dame is ranked. You know the BCS wants them to move up so they can get an open bid. The bowls would LOVE to get those Notre Dame ratings.
How in the world is Tech that high? The computers must think fondly of that powerhouse Florida International.
OK, UT's margin over VT is 524 points. We'll need to count this down until the final week. It might increase next week but should shrink every week after that due to the computer polls using strength of schedule.
Yep, USC's win at Notre Dame was against a much higher quality opponent than the UT win at The Ohio State University.
But it's good for Texas. Next week, they'll have a victory over a top 10 team. Why? They have 2 losses. Both at home.
They're still in the top 10 in the polls and both of those have been tough TOUGH losses. I think they should easily make the top 10 by the end of the season and will be a shoe-in for an at large berth.
They will be a BCS at large team, no worries about that because they play no one for the rest of the year. Meanwhile most of the others in front of them will stumble at one point or another.
I don't know about that. A loss to the BCS#2 team won't push them down too much, assuming UT is their only loss of the season, which is a pretty good assumption looking at the rest of their schedule.
As a Miami fan, I am disgusted that they are behind those charlatans from Lubbock. Yet, the only rational explanation I can come up with is Miami does have 1 loss to a team ranked #11 in the BCS (but is still a loss) while Tech has no losses. Now, if I was a UCLA fan, I would be absolutely livid that Tech is ahead of them. That is absolute horsesh!t.
Miami lost to Florida State. Florida State lost to Virginia. Which is worse? This whole comparing head-to-head thing really has to go. Too many other games to look at to just look at one game and say that shows one team is better than another. Michigan State beat Notre Dame who beat Michigan who beat Michigan State. Now what?
What Major said. Also, it goes to show that if you are going to lose in college football, it is best to do it in your first game. Losing in mid-October or even later is like playing with matches if you have hopes of making it to the NC game.
If you look at their resume: FSU beat MIA & BC MIA beat Clemson & Colorado then you go head to head like in conferences. FSU should get the edge. MSU, ND and UM all have at least two losses. Who cares. Championship dreams are long gone.
Actually, the ND-USC game helped UT. ND's last TD most likely is what caused a few voters to defect and vote UT #1. UT is now closer to USC than to VT. So, if UT wins out and VT wins out, UT is in the championship game. ND may not have screwed us after all!
the bowls don't have to "love" anything to get ND to a BCS bowl. ND is GUARANTEED a BCS bowl with 9 wins, regardless of ranking. look it up...
