What do you guys think TCU's chances are of getting into a BCS bowl this season? They are done with their season as of 11/11. But moved up a spot in the BCS bowl rankings. They are now #13 in BCS rankings. One more spot to move up....please.

No. 15 TCU (10-1) reeled off nine straight victories, the last seven by an average of 25 points.

    1. USC
    2. Texas
    3. Penn State
    4. LSU
    5. Virginia Tech
    6. Ohio State
    7. Oregon
    8. Notre Dame
    9. Miami
    10. Auburn
    11. West Virginia
    12. UCLA
    13. TCU

UCLA is most likely going lose to USC, so maybe that will help them a little...

Hopefully that will help. I hadn't looked at next weeks schedules yet so didn't know they were playing each other.

I got one of the upsets I wanted this weekend (Alabama game). Now looking for a few other games.

This really reminds me of 2 years ago, when they were #6 in the BCS polls and then lost their final game and dropped to 14 or 16. Couldn't remember. But that screwed up everything.

I am a proud TCU Alum, and I don't think a team that lost to SMU deserve BCS bowl. I hope they can land a good bowl such as Houston Bowl and beat a qulality opponents (NU or ISU).

I am not too happy about that our Future non conference schedule:
    2006
    September 2 at Baylor
    September 9 at Army
    September 16 Texas Tech

    2007
    September 1 Baylor
    September 8 Stanford
    September 22 SMU

    2008
    September 13 at Stanford
    September 20 at SMU
    September 27 Arkansas

What's the point to play Army? To become a respectable/elite program, we need to schedule some elite teams. OU is good start this year, but....

There's only 2 at-large spots available, and those will go to Notre Dame (ND rule) and Ohio State (top-6 BCS rule).

The BCS already have to suck it up with West Virginia. I don't think they want to take another midmajor.

So do you have to be in the top 10 then? Damn. So much for hoping. Oh well. I don't understand that rules that much. I know there are some gurranteed spots to certain conferences, like the east.

2 years ago they were #6 and then lost their final game to screw that up.

Sucks they lost that one game, where their starter was injured and decided to play and threw like 3 interceptions I think.

Wish TCU could get into a better conference. They did ditch Conf USA, but M.West isn't much better. It was their first season in that conference and they destroyed everyone in the conference.

Oh well, guess there's always next year.

Teams need to be in BCS top 12 to be considered at large. Mid Major team need to be in Top 6 to get automatic BCS bid.

Whoever posted Ohio State is in is wrong. If a BCS-conference is top 4 (Texas last year), they are in. If a non-BCS-conference is top 6 (Utah last year), they are in.

Top 12 is required to be considered. But no one will pick TCU over Notre Dame, Ohio State, or Oregon. Most likely, you're looking at the following teams in the BCS:

    USC
    Texas
    Penn State
VaTech (or FSU if they pull an upset)
    LSU or Georgia
West Virginia or South Florida (Big East winner)
    Notre Dame
Ohio State or Oregon, depending on who gets to pick

If the Fiesta Bowl gets to pick, they may take Oregon over Ohio State. If it's an eastern bowl, it would likely be Ohio State. I guess Miami or someone like that could be in the mix as well.

You're right. The top-6 rule is for mid-majors to prevent any lawsuits against the BCS. Last year, Utah was #6 and got the Fiesta invite.

We are in No.13 this week and given UCLA lose to USC on 12/3, we may sneak into Top 12 after Dec3, but OSU and ND will get the at large bid.

TCU has ZERO chance of getting into a BCS bowl. I mean, I'm suprised that you even think there is a remote chance. I would bet anything I own that TCU won't make it into a BCS bowl. They haven't beaten a single ranked opponent and lost to Southern Methodist University.

TCU was shown for what they are... a decent team with a weak schedule, just like BYU a few years back.

Can you imagine if TCU would have beaten SMU (still can't believe they lost that game) and Fresno State would have beaten USC? Not too far fetched.

We might be talking about 2 Texas teams playing for the National Championship.

That SMU game really really hurt. The way it goes for TCU, because of SOS if they lose one game. That's the season.

It was really harsh though. Considering they beat OU the week before.

It was the turning point for the team though. They lost their starting QB, again just like every season. Tye Gunn has never been healthy for this team. the backup guy came in and had a good season.

They dominated their conference. Only problem, their confernce is so weak. Atleast it is better than the C-USA.

I'd love to see them finally make it into a decent conference.

Like Longhorn fan posted, UCLA will most likely lose and TCU has a chance of moving up, but I don't see a BCS bowl this year.

ND, Ohio State, Miami are all big name schools that deserve the bid. Not saying TCU doesn't, but that lost to SMU was really hurtful.
