This fine offseason post gets an assist from heypartner becuase he wrote in a post that he changed his name from heycoach. So, I was thinking, "why is he really heypartner?" Why did everyone pick the nickname (or handle, whatever) they did. Some of you I really wonder about. Tell your story If you just use a first name or something - don't feel left out, say why you decided on that. Here is my story: I had a dream a few years ago that I was playing in the NBA and the back of my jersey said RIMBAUD. It was funny because the announcer would shout "RAAAMBOOOO!" Then, at press conferences, I would recite poetry and do performance art bits. Very odd. Then, when I registered, it just seemed right. I always liked Rimbaud's work, anyway. I chose to use lower case because I am not him and it is a false attempt at modesty. Small letters are self-depreciating. ------------------ rimbaud post-a-thon 2000 [This message has been edited by rimbaud (edited November 10, 2000).]

I'm thinking of changing my username to a nickname but the struggle continues as I can't decide. ------------------ THE DEAN HAS WRITTEN
I had a dog named Dakota, and the company I founded is called Digital Anvil. I took the DA from Digital Anvil, and my dogs name, thus....DaDakota. Wow, reading it is far less interesting then I thought. ------------------
rimmy...I hope you didn't take me seriously, or others. For the record: heycoach i have nothing to do with the coachsedge.com. I just thought it was too much coincidence to not make a joke of it. I can only hope that someday I have a website of Flash movies that coaches contribute to! To answer your question: "heypartner" comes from me being an avid Bridge player. When I first found live Bridge on the internet, I new my cyberlife was going to take a quantum leap. At bridge sites, hey partner is the greeting everyone gave each other in the chats. So, in my quest for efficiency of typing, I decided to name myself heypartner. That way in the Bridge chats, I just hit enter to give my greeting...hehe. Now you know why it seems like I'm living at this bbs. I'm actually playing Bridge most of the time at night with friends from all over the world. When I'm dummy, I toggle over here to be smarty pants.
Rocket sauce - in honor of "Tenacious D" DaDakota, who are you? I work at GSD&M running the AVID. ------------------
Heypartner: No, I did not take it seriously, it just got me thinking about why your name was heypartner... I have played a little bridge in my life, was pretty good, but it has been a while. ------------------ rimbaud post-a-thon 2000

WoW Things must be REALLY boring if Rimmy starts a thread anyway, Im game. here it goes : I cannot pinpoint just one reason behind my nick. HP knows some of what I am talking about. Here is a little history behind it. Well, I am a Carnivorous. Some claim I am Raving mad cuz I talk to myself strangely. I watched the movie basic Instinct. I am very Sanitized. Cactuses are cool. Oceans have sal****er. C-Carnivorous R-Raving I-Instinct S-Sanitized C-Cactus O-Oceans Kidd? I like to Kidd around. HAHAHAHA funny. Also, I was adopted by crisco inc. when I was a kid and raised on the wellness nutrition cycle. My nick is a mere homage to that experience. TurnOver anyone? oh rimmy. BTW strange enuff, I once dreamed I was playing for the Hawks as Alan Henderson with Steve Smiths body. Lenny Wilkins gave a cool half time speech. ------------------ Cato is 7 feet tall.
Yes, to my dismay, I do know partly what CriscoKidd is talking about. He sent me a completely unsolicited AVI of himself once doing the most disgusting performance of the "ROFLMAO" Chat acronymn I've ever seen. All I can say about it is: ROFNLMAOLIC I think LHutz must have got the AVI too, because his website somewhat talks about it.<font color="f7f7f7"> [This message has been edited by heypartner (edited May 19, 2000).]
Mine's pretty self evident - the only explanation required is that Australians have a predilection for abreviating names and adding an "o" to the end - my friends have called me davo for as long as I can remember. In Australia, Steve Francis may well get called "Stevo". heypartner, I play lots of euchre, which is similar (but simpler)than bridge, and has caused me to pull more than a few all-nighters! In the future if I see you make a good comment, I'm just going to post a message saying "wtgp" ------------------ http://rocketdavo.tripod.com
I think it is so cool how sal****er gets censored. I started playing a lot of computer games when I got my hands on a computer that could handle them (I was deprived as a child). I found a game in which you are the president of a Carribean country and your goal is to survive for ten years without being overthrown. Very cool game. Anyway, I needed a name for my president, and I wanted something Spanish. Thus Juan Valdez. Afterwards, in numerous other games, I needed a name for high-score lists and such, so I kept using Juan and I guess it has just snowballed out of control. ------------------ http://www.gaffordstudios.cjb.net/
