I saw this at the bottom of the Startribune article about the T-Wolves Rockets game. Battier jokes about his trade value. Maybe.. http://www.startribune.com/sports/w...qPk4DyCc75DiUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aULPQL7PQLanchO7DiUr [rquoter]Battier was another such player. While Martin did much of his work by getting to the foul line, Battier, at 6-8, knocked down shots from outside the arc. "With the trade deadline coming, I'm trying to increase my value to the team so they don't trade me," Battier said. "I've got a pregnant wife and my dogs like their doggy day care, so I don't feel like moving right now." Battier was, of course, kidding. "Just a little trade deadline humor," he said. "I'm here all week, folks."[/rquoter]
Humor is always rooted in truth......but the fact that he is acknowledging it should tell folks that it is effecting the players on the team. DD
Back in 2001-2002 season, alot of coaches and people in general thought Battier was a fine pick for the Grizz. Being a Duke product they touted him as the next Grant Hill when Grant was in his prime and with the Pistons. If you have the footage when Battier first entered the league he was doing a little bit of everything and could have been a rival to the TMacs and Kobes of this league. He was an all around wing. His offensive game has changed dramatically since and he was also had facilitating skills like Tracy. What happened?
( in shane's laughter) Hahahahahhahahahaha Shane's wife pregnant? Shane loves white women. hahahahahahah
Battier was, of course, kidding. "Just a little trade deadline humor," he said. "I'm here all week, folks." Morey: "Don't count on it." Battier:
I can see why Shane would prefer not to disrupt his family life, something those of us with families can relate to, but he's mostly joking, of course. The cat has reason to keep things happy at home. No question that the deadline affects the players. Anyone who argued about that should have their head examined.
you know what. i've been wrong all along and dadakota is so right. if it weren't for the trade rumors this would be a 60-win team. let's shut down the trade rumors people. let's sign our guys to long term deals. bring carroll dawson back.
Ha Ha HA ! That is not what anyone is saying, certainly not me, but to say these guys are not bothered by the organization basically announcing, every other day, that anyone could be traded is silly. DD
well, i was bothered when i had to layoff people. I was bothered by the fact that several of my peers were getting their salaries cut. but instead of pouting, i worked harder in order to elevate my status within the organization and business community as a whole. fear motivates. it's not a lasting motivator and does breed resentment, but it motivates. unless you are weak.
