Anyone catch Battier's post Twolves interview? Twolves - Direct quote "Without Aaron, we have to rely on ball movement. Aaron's able to break down his defender and score, when he is in there, we don't have to move the ball as much because he's that talented. With Ish in there, teams play off of him, ball moves around more." Is it me, or does this sound like Battier is blaming Brooks for the offensive breakdowns, he puts it in a nice way and calls brooks talented, but that looks to me to be a pretty big slam on brooks if you read between the lines. Also this is not new, I think there's a trend of Battier really saying some heavy stuff if you read between the lines. Spurs - he said something like "It was the first time this season that we gave effort", Martin and Brooks were out, is he saying that those two things were related? After Hornets - he was the first person to bring up the topic of Yao being in and out of the lineup affecting the team, the team being "confused" and then the media asked all the players about what battier said.
I think Battier was answering the question that reporters gave to him. Also, our problem was not on the offensive side, we are one of the top teams in the offensive stats. Battier is speaking on behalf of the team. He is the captain of the team and I think it is good to have a captain who's not afraid to speak candidly.
It would be great if Battier called out the small forwards on the team that can't hit the wide open 3's... I'm not the grammar nazi, but I think you meant dissent, or dissension. Not bothering with the locker misspell.
All he is saying its different when Brooks is in the game, because Brooks can break the defense down and look for his shot. When its Ish then they have to rely on Ball movement. Its apples and oranges not Brooks bashing.
Every shooter goes through slumps. It is r****ded to try to call out players in a slump. It's not like they want to be in one. Don't you remember Allen from the finals? Great shooter, just stuck in a slump.
Well we know what happened there in the end, Battier has put the kiss of death on AB's rockets career.
Battier is a half-court player, but AB is known for his speed. He and AB don't fit. You know, this year is the contract year for both of them.
I think he meant that they had to pick up the effort due to those two players being out. Not implying that the effort was lacking because those two players were not trying.
You do realize Shane Battier has a Comparative Religion degree and a Philosophy degree from Duke. He can bash people in a very nice and respectful way.
