Have that entire series on DVD at home, Conroy and Hamill are gold! Got me into superheroes and watched everything Bruce Timm produced. Can't wait to get this game, really looking forward to it, been waiting ages for a good batman game!
Its a great game have played it almost every night this week. It does become a little repetitive i think but i love it. Joker tends to throw in some things that make it less repetitive.

The damn thing just finished downloading a few minutes ago. I played through the demo. It's fun but I'm not sure I want to buy it. I bought way too many games last year and did not play them and I already plan on getting L4D 2, MW2, and 2k10.
It looks REALLY good but those kinds of games I tend to get bored of in a few weeks, so I'm not buying.
Game is great. Got a Bioshock atmosphere and a fighting system that is what Assassin's Creed was trying to be. The Asylum is a whole creepy island that is actually wide 'open', GTA style. To add to the Bioshock feel there are different parts that pull this off, ie the medical center complete with morgue, old hospital, etc. Add to that a Metroid-like power up system, where each new gadget and ability enables you to open up more of the asylum, and even a level up system where you get new upgrades as you go. The gadgets are seamless. You do stuff like throw batarangs and grapple to ceilings without having to really think about it. AND it's got a stealth aspect too. You know the stuff in Batman Begins where he is hunting the guys at the docks one by one? You do that here. And the remaining guys start to freak out more and more as their numbers dwindle down. But the best part? You're the freakin' Batman. Even with all that creepy stuff the game throws at you, you still stride into a room and take a group of bad guys head on. The game really does a great job of making you feel like an ass-kicking Batman. lol
I finished this game last night and have to say it was really good, but ultimately fell short of all-time classic. It does have a lot going for it and is definitely the best Batman game ever. The voice acting is spot on, and the atmosphere is perfect. The weapon system makes you feel like Batman, and I loved that they incorporated so much of the World's Greatest Detective theme into the game. However, the combat seemed a bit like button mashing. There is an art to chaining together long combos, but it got a bit repetitive. Secondly the boss fights sucked. This was the biggest disappointment for me. I wanted epic boss fights with Batman's most legendary foes. Instead I got to fight cronies and watch cutscenes. Spoiler The Poison Ivy fight was all right, but that was the only real one. Bane was just a titan henchman, and half that fight was fighting regular cronies. Scarecrow had the three levels where he's super big, but he got iced by King Croc in a cutscene. Croc was dispatched by a few batarangs, and by one lame bomb trigger. Harley and Joker were both about fighting groups of thugs. Harley was dispatched via cutscene, and the freaking Joker took a bit of walking around and a few combos to finish off. Zasz really wasn't used except for 2 supershort moments. Just a huge letdown. I'd still recommend this game, especially if you like Batman, but the bar needs be lowered from greatest of all time level.
I don't know what the deal is but its as if every single comic book game by law has to be mind-numbingly repetitive.
Arkham Asylum 2 Confirmed, More Villains Await We're all excited for the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum, but there are two points of interest attached to this announcement. Firstly, you may have noticed that the Eidos brand name was missing from that debut trailer that aired during the Spike TV Video Game Awards this past weekend. Well, according to Joystiq, that's because Eidos won't be involved in publishing Arkham Asylum 2; Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment will handle the producing duties this time. And by the way, we still don't have the official title of this new game; we're all just calling it "Batman: Arkham Asylum 2" because we know it's a sequel. The second point of interest involves the possibility of this becoming a series, which was addressed in a recent PC Zone interview with Rocksteady Senior Gameplay Programmer Paull Denning. There, he said the idea has "almost run its course" and added: "Gotham itself is a fantastically realized fictional city and there are so many places that would be probably be ideal for gameplay and great to explore." Yeah, how long can you stay within the confines of the Asylum? No matter how skilled a developer you are, and no matter how imaginative you can be, the simple logistical restriction will quickly prove troublesome. In some ways, I'm a little surprised the Asylum is returning at all. But don't be expecting a GTA-style title in the far-off future; Denning says you have to be "careful" when doing something like that, and it may not happen. Fine by me; just give us another awesome title. http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/6286.html
The trailer's Joker didn't sound like Hamill. I'm thinking this will be the disappointment that I expected the first one to be. (Of course Arkham Asylum ended up being a surprisingly excellent game)

I'm very interested in the sequel, provided they give us some real boss fights. That was the glaring weakness of the first game. I wanted to throw down against some of Batman's most notorious foes, but that aspect was hugely underwhelming. I'm hoping they'll ramp it up like God of War II did after the good but repetitive God of War I. The enemies were varied, and there were epic boss fights and even mini boss fights. The dream game I keep hoping for the sequel to emulate is Metroid Prime with its exploration, opening new areas with discovered weapons\items, and epic boss fights. If they can achieve that with the Batman-inspired feel of the first game, it would probably be game of the year and maybe of this generation. That's also assuming that the voice talent will all come back, because if Hamill and Conroy don't reprise, the game will suffer for it (especially for all the BATS fans out there).
