Im off right now but there are too many people playing right now at 24 hour to actually shoot around....also my damn membershipe expired so i have to renew it.
well be there and ready. and as my bro said ill be bringin some gatorades...and i actaully found a cooler for them. see ya tonight!
Hey guys, I was able to find a reversable white/navy blue jersey and I found a place that sells iron-on numbers too. I was going to get 11 but the dude didn't have enough 1's on hand. Couldn't get 12 either. Then we tried 20...shuffled through his stock and found that he didn't have a white 0. So, I ended up going with 24, since he seemed to have quite a surplus of 2's and 4's of all colors. What I need to know now is what numbers are taken? I can either be 2, 4, 24, or 42, depending on what you guys have. If those are taken, I'm screwed I guess. By the way I'll be bringing a stat sheet so some bystander can fill it out.
i'm sure 2, 4, and 42 are not taken. seems everyone's got an odd number on the team. i think stack is 24 though.
Cool. 2 it is. I should be leaving a little after 7. Hopefully I'll be there about 7:40. Damn I never give myself enough time to get places
Okay so we didn't win...who cares...i came out with a lot of positives and i think we can only improve from our first game. We definently came out of the gates with some great speed and were firing on all cylinders. We were all hitting our shots early and we had the lead. Unfortunantly our shots seemed to die towards the end and the fact that their smallest guy was our tallest guy didn't help. They got us in fould toruble quickly and we started just turning the ball over and over. I think if we come out like we did and hit our shots we should be okay. Everyone played decent i don't think any of us were mistake free so we should definently take what we did this game and just move on to the next and bring our shots and hopefully it will stay with us for the whole game.
I agree Stack. We can beat that team. We just turned the ball over and shots were just not falling. And, you're right about their size. I had my hands on at least 6 more rebounds only to have a couple of long arms swoop over and get it. I think one thing I learned so far in this league is that you will get a call if you just go to the basket. It didn't matter how or what contact there was, the refs called it. Hell, I was standing completely still in the lane with one hand up and the that big white dude just barreled over me and got the call. I like that offense they ran when we went zone. They would just throw to a guy halfway posting up and had another cut for an layup. We played hard and we can all look at this we can't play any worse. I predicted we would have a winning record this season and I still stand by that.
man those f***ers were huge.......and they were gettin all the calls?? o well, we got thrown outta sync, so next game we really ought to make an effort to take care of that ball. the shots will fall, we were just a lil on edge tonight.
Man... That team was tall. Here are my stats for all my fans. 0-1 shooting. two rebounds. about 8 or 9 minutes played it felt like it.
...not that there's anything wrong with that. hmph. ok? there was nobody on that team under six two. i'm six one... two with shoes. defensively, i'm not scurred. like i say... what i lack in size, i believe i can make up with my arms and jumping. help would be fine...every now and then, but for the most part i'll be ok. even if the dude i'm guarding is six seven and 250... like the guy tonight. offensively... well... i won't be able to contribute, but that's cool. 1. i can't post up a guy like tonight when he outweighs me by a hundred pounds (most likely more). so, that's no inside game. 2. i can't very well move out to the perimeter and penetrate like i'm used to doing like in practice simply because... well... there's all ready too many people on the outside and we're going to need someone going to rebound if we shoot j's all day. suggestion... a practice (where we ALL participate between the game days). although we got smashed (putting it lightly) in the second half trying to play a zone, i believe it can work if we work on it more, so we can figure out what each player's responsibility is defensively. i've played once in my father's league at shell in deer park where all we did was two three zone, so i can help out. i got center sowed up defensively if we get it working right... just pick up my slack offensively. also, we need to work on rotating the ball. the team we played tonight played zone. the team in blue that we watched beforehand played zone. rotating the ball is the only thing that can break it... starting off by dribble penetration (rush, bolo... heheehe, clutch, and biggie), then kick out, and then swinging it around the horn.
Well there is one major problem with trying to break down a zone like the one we faced tonight: size. When our average height is hovering around 6'0", maybe under that, no team that size is going to give two craps if we dribble penetrate. They had no reason to send help defensively because they had that mountain of a man waiting at the rim to cleanup anything we threw at him. I drove in a couple of times and got all the way to the rim only to be swallowed by Shaq. That's exactly what they wanted...to funnel us toward the big man. Our only other option was to jack 3's...and we had moderate success with that (39%) and still got trounced. Hopefully tonight was mostly a case of a sheer size-disadvantage and less about ability. The other teams I saw tonight look really athletic, but not as big. I wonder how we'll hold up against them, but I guess we'll find out in due time...
btw... a scary moment... well... i was checking out the team in the white jersies that was gonna play after us. i used to play pick up games at the uh downtown campus and there was one dude on the team that dunked on me (i only missed it by an inch or two though.) the sad thing is is that he's only six four or so... which is small compared to some of the teams there. he looked like he was the tallest guy on his team, which means... i get to pay that f'er back. sorry for the non contribution tonight.
