I prefer to keep that anonymous. That way, I can badmouth, complain, share info, and tell funny anecdotes about my company without revealing too much. (Picture Brittany Murphy saying "I'll never tell...") I don't know everybody reading this forum (actually, I don't know anybody), and I would be afraid of disclosing vital inside information (like the fact that we're making Conquest: Frontier Wars trading cards -- oops, I'm in trouble now ). I'm sure if someone was really bored, they could go back to specific posts I made in the past and pin it down to 1-2 companies (note: this is not a challenge). Even if someone guessed correctly, though, I wouldn't confirm anything. Let's just say I work for one of the top companies and leave it at that. Sorry for the "copout" answer. Maybe one day I'll disclose the name... Getting back to basketball, I have a preproduction card of Steve Francis sitting in front of me (from the basic signature set of the company), and it looks pretty good. Buy! Buy! Buy! (Help me get my bonus next year!)
My cards are from the 60's and 70's. Dr. J rookie, Pistol Pete rookie, Bill Walton rookie...to name a few. I have lots of ABA cards, Moses Malone rookie (Utah Starz) Baseball cards were my passion back then. Now its all about how much cards are worth, graded cards, crap like that. We used to buy them to get our favorite players, not "how much is this one worth." I miss the days when Topps was the only company making sports cards.
I have a pretty big collection. I have over 1,500 Barkley cards, 200 Francis's and about a thousand five hundred other cards of Rockets players. I have lots of cards of other players too, not just Rockets players. I have 36 game jersey, game floor and game ball cards. I have 9 Francis jersey cards, 3 Mobley jersey cards, 1 of Rice, and 3 of Collier.
tm&fs, I understand the Francis, Mobley and even the Rice gu card - but <b>3</b> of Collier? You are either 1 devoted Rocket fan or you have very bad luck in pulls.
Yeah, I would have 4 or 5 Al Kaline cards, I would keep 1 and give the rest away. I once traded a Babe Ruth card (All Time Greats-printed in 1973) for a Roberto Clemente that I didn't have. I now have every Clemente card ever printed
I didn't pull them. I bought them on ebay. I am started to collect cards of guys like Langhi and Collier.
Man, the Shaq Beam Team was the crown jewel of sports cards that year. It was cool because most companies only had 1-3 insert series, which was perfect. Stadium Club's only insert card that year was the Beam Team, which was quite an awesome card. After that year the prestige<sp?> of the Beam Team series went downhill..
I used to have a huge collection of baseball, basketball & football cards. Can't remember how many but sold them all basically for several gems I now have in a safety deposit box. The biggest two I have, '84 Star Jordan & a '92 Shaq Classic promo only. Which came from the National Sports Collectors Convention in Atlanta. Have not kept up with the dollar values since 94-95. Anybody know the worth of these cards now?
The Jordan card is worth a whopping $3000! The Shaq Classic card is probably not worth anything. Classic cards arent usually worth anything due to the fact they arent licensed by the NBA. The players are never in their team uniforms. Of course all of this is my opinion so dont rip it up or anything.
man, if i remember correctly, when Shaq came out there were a TON of those promo cards with him. I had a few where he wore the #1.

I agree. I used to like the days of collecting when everything was simple. There was not so much various brands and so much card grading processes.
