Major, you're so naive. JVG hates all of our players and they all hate him.

Haven't you read the Fire Van Gundy!!!!!!!!!! thread?

Well if JB and Bowen played the same position, perhaps your statement would have some validity.

But since we have Head, Rafer, TMac, Bogans, Wesley all able to play 2-guard and ALL better defenders, Jon Barry just wasn't going to crack the rotation.

At PF, we have Juwan Howard. That's it. Everybody else is scrubs (and many argue that Juwan is a scrub too...stupidly...but that's what they argue). Stro is out on the IR. We have Chuck but it isn't like he is a 35 mpg guy.

Not a big fan of Bowan but we need more PF's. In the meantime, we got Bowan. Jon Barry is irrelevant to our PF situation.

    Bowen as a pf?

If a bench warmer's bench warmer sf like Ryan Bowen can masqeurade as a pf, I'd rather let Jon Barry play center. Please, look up Bowen's stats in the last playoffs when he played some pf before saying funny things like that.

If we need a pf, we'd better cut Bowen and get one before counting on him.

Well, we've all been chomping at the bit for a designated offensive coach. Let Thibodeaux run the D and Barry run the O. Barry could really coach the fast breat transition game and get everybody in their right places running the lanes. Van Gundy can still draw up all the plays with 2 seconds left, but let Jon coach these guys on how to execute the start of transition and how to execute in transition.

    Sign him up.

No, there was plenty of naive finger-pointing. Blaming JVG for everything. I'm not even a big JVG fan and I'm sick of it.

    Still wrong...

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=109680

...But it was not personal. Van Gundy's affection for Barry was clear, and Barry always understood Van Gundy.

"I told him he was my favorite coach," said Barry, who made nine stops in a 14-year NBA career. "His knowledge of the game is better than anybody I've ever been around. You've got to be a tough-skin guy. He's honest. He'll tell you as he sees it. But he's got a lot of respect."

With that in mind, Barry could choose to work for Van Gundy. There already has been talk about Barry working as a scout. He said he does not want to coach but would like to learn how to be a general manager.

Don't forget the bit where Barry was dreaming of joining the Nuggets for tonight's game only, just so he could wave the 3-sign under JVG's nose. If that doesn't indicate anger, I don't know what does.

Of course, now that Barry is angling for a job with the Rockets, he is making nice. But that doesn't change the fact that Barry felt crushed. And he is still gone from the roster.

If he was healthy enough to play he shouldn't have been waived unless it was at his own request. We could have used his shooting.

The man is a superior...extreme competitor, ahould we expect any different? My take is his rational mind understands how JVG feels about him (JVG loves players with JB's fire), understands his age and injuries, but that lil boy competitor inside is not too happy with any of this.

Why are we still talking about this?

Barry said himself he was not healthy enough to play defense, by his own words.

Barry also said it was driving him crazy rotting on the bench.

JVG said he' waive him so Barry can chose to resign w/ Denver or retire.

Now Barry said he would still like to work for the Rockets which clearly indicates he is not mad.

Geez guys, let it go. We have gone what, 11-4 w/out Barry? It's okay. Take a deep breath.

Totally agreed. JB is one of my favorite Rockets also and I wish him the best. But come on, it's time to move on.

Yeah, and it's time to move on from Sura too. Sura's contract is a contract we should be able to package along with some other players to get our serious third piece. If he can no longer play we should be able to move him to a team desiring cap relief, so he can retire under the injury provisions.
