Too much knee-jerk reaction here. Like others have pointed out, JB has not looked himself this season at all. It seems that injury really caught up to him/his age and he's just not going to be able to contribute anymore. Do you really think JVG would intentionally keep him on the bench even when we sorely needed some outside shooting e.g. the PHX game? Yeah it's unfortunate that his replacement (Luther) is still suffering from a bad shooting slump. But I think we all need to deliver ourselves from nostalgia and get in touch with reality, for once. I've never seen anything that indicated Barry and JVG were on bad terms -- in fact, everything I've heard and read indicates that they were always on very good terms, and JVG said JB was one of his all-time favorites. They waived him today because they wanted to give him the option of signing with a contender if he could, or retiring.

If you guys would remember, JB wanted to retire last summer, but then reconsidered given the prospect of us contending for the title this year. Obviously things haven't worked out that way. Give the Rox management a break on this one -- I think they did the right thing, and I'm sure JB himself is in full support.

This 100+ positive response for JB in so few hours is an advertisment to a team needing, desperately needing, to win back our town that JB needs, absolutely NEEDS, to have a visible and real position with the club. Third man in the booth. Second?

Think JB would be great in the booth, a hell of a lot better than Cylde...

JB jinxed this season with his opening night speech. Only fitting.

You beat me to it. JB's speech (and his opening game performance) totally screwed up everything, including himself.

What did he say? I think he just said he hoped the fans were as optimistic about this season as the coach. That's about it. Who wasn't?

The guy is 36 and injury prone. I love his game and playing style and I hope he catches on with another team (anyone but spurs or mavs). I dont think this move is that big of a deal, its not like he's an all star, just kind of eye popping cuz he's a fan fav.

I found this to be the exact way I'm feeling right now.. Overall I think this is crap and I feel like the team is giving up on the season for some strange reason.. Today is the day I'm thinking about giving up on the Rockets for the season :(

At least make JB a color guy on FSN.. we all know Clyde is a local hero and all, but come on Les the guy is as dull as Ben Stein..

Can't agree more, Clutch. It's really saddening how JVG could possibly think Bowen or even a Finch is more help to this team than a JB.

What's our single BIGGEST weakness this season? SHOOTING!

So JB can't play defense? Who gives a f***! Could Steve Kerr defend worth a lick? He was on championship teams and in fact played a MAJOR role in both Chicago and San Antonio.

I am fu***** pissed, man. This team was already emotionless and stale and without character, waiving JB only made it worse. With Sura and now JB not there, this team doesn't have much character left.
