As many of ya know, Charles Barkely and Dick Bavetta have agreed to race each other during the All-Star weekend. Not only is this gonna be freakin' hilarious, but it's also going to be for a good cause. So who do you think is gonna win? I'm pulling for Bavetta cause it'll more hilarious that way, however, you should never underestimate the Round Mound of Rebound. :D

    Here's a script I found:

I hope Chuck wins, because Dick Bavetta is the devil.

Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals were a hit job.

Bavetta runs up and down an basketball court two or three times a week. The only thing to which Barkley has run in the past six years is the snack machine to get the last Snickers bar.

In a longer race, Chuck has 1 chance, none.
This race is too short, Chuck might have a slim chance!
I would have the medics on stand-by though. :D

MJ got lucky with the push but he also drove to the basket and didn't get a foul in his favor when he deserved to get to the free throw just a few minutes before the end of game 6 in the 1998 Finals Reynolds.

and ron harper let a shot go in the 4th quarter clearly after the shot clock but it was counted. and in the first half, howard eisley let go of a 30 foot shot that was a good 7 or 8 feet out of his hand by the time the shot clock went off. the shot was waived off. one of the worst shot clock calls i've ever seen b/c it was so obviously out of his hand, no one could believe it wasn't counted.

anyway, you would think bavetta would win this easily since he's always running up the court while reffing. barkley's only chance is if bavetta's finds himself irrevocably drawn to stop a few times during the race and whistle a foul in dwyane wade's favor.

Those two plays are the ones I'm talking about, since Bavetta waved off Eisley's three (which was clearly before the shot clock) and then gave Harper his three (clearly after the shot clock). That's a swing of 6 points and Chicago won by only 1.

My reasons for Bavetta winning is: 1) he's in shape and run miles everyday 2) all Barkley has done lately is sit on his ass and eat donuts. And this is for those of you who still need a little more convincing.

    Although....Barkely's in full-swing Rocky mode. :D

Does anyone know if their sidebet of $5,000, which will be donated to a charity chosen by the winner, is still on?

You still had a chance to win it in the end despite all that and couldn't make it.
As far as the race is concerned I think Barkley will win.

I want Chuck to win, but I bet Bavetta will win. I sure hope Charles has been workin' out some because he won't have a chance if not.

kenny smith was on a la sports talk radio show yesterday afternoon and from what he said the side bet was still on. 5k to the winner's charity. He also said the race was supposed to be taking place at the backlot of ceasar's palace. not sure if they will move it to the court itself anyways it should be a lot of fun
