I didn't realize he had ever been plugged. I shudder to think what will happen when the plug is pulled out.
He pretty much went on about the same old stuff. Was asked about Yao and said he hopes he does well but all the video he's seen of him shows him shooting 3's. Another player who is not informed. os
funny, cause i've never seen one video that showed ming just taking 3's, and i'm guessing most of us here have seen more footage than charles. i love barkley's personality and all but he has no clue what he's talking about here.
Man Please.. Half the NBA cant be uninformed about Yao Ming. Fact is if anyone has anything negative to say about Yao around here you guys blow a load....
Blow this load. Barkley said the only video he's seen of the guy he's been outside shooting 3 ptrs. OBVIOUSLY he hasn't seen enough video because there is plenty of it showing Yao playing inside, rebounding, blocking shots and dunking. Barkley's opinion was based on the little video that he saw. He has never seen Yao in person or played against him. "half the nba"?? I'd like to see your list of "half the nba" that has something negative to say about Yao. You can roll eyes all you want but obviously you are just as uninformed as Barkley. If I were to judge you by this one post of yours I would call you a stupid fool. Unlike Barkley and "half the NBA" I will wait and read some more of your intelligent posts before I make that decision. os
I have yet to see a video where Yao shoots ONE three. And I've seen the ones currently on this site. What the hell was Chuck watching?
I seem to remember that Yao Ming was 1/1 from 3 in one of his games in the last tournament. I may be wrong. Although he made a 3, he didn't shoot 10 of them. Out of tape, I've only seen him shoot three's at the workout. Then again, so was that other guy.(I'm not even going to attempt to spell his last name.) So basically, no I have never seen Yao Ming shoot a 3 in a game.
Ming did shoot a few 3-pointers when he was in Chicago before the draft. I guess that is what Barkley is referring to. I tell you what. Barkley is no expert. Do you believe he is actually at home looking at tapes of Ming? He has better things to do. He is an expert at watching Sportscenter. Nothing more.
Maybe some NBA players are afraid to come out and speak freely on Ming. Many reports I've read seem slightly negative. I have yet to hear something that is truely dissing the guy. We take a lot out of context, of which has already been sorted through by the media. Let's not become the media, they're bad enough as it is. That's why we all love this site. We get enough information to make our own decisions. Let's not forget some of the good publicity we've heard as well.
You know what's amusing? Suppose all Ming turns out to be is a deadly 3 point marksman. Know what we have then? That's right. The tallest ****ing 3 point shooter to ever live. Could you imagine that option at the end of games? It wouldn't even be a decision. Damn, he could average 20 points by camping out there and lofting the ball over the entire defense. Rudy: "Well boys, we're down by two... so toss it out to The Guy Who Cannot Be Blocked on the perimeter."
They should ask Clyde Drexler and Eddie Johnson about Yao since they actually played 3 games against him in 2000 prior to the Olympics when their NBA Legends team went to China. The Legends won the first 2 games but Yao led China to victory in Game 3 with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks.
"That's right. The tallest ****ing 3 point shooter to ever live. Could you imagine that option at the end of games? It wouldn't even be a decision. Damn, he could average 20 points by camping out there and lofting the ball over the entire defense." - Absolutely agree. Outside shots win most of the games, folks. Banging inside is essential but over-rated. You need bangers inside to open up outside shooters, understood. I don't have any statistics but it'll be extremely interesting to find out how many of the most important games are determined by inside plays, or outside shots. Plus, I would argue you don't need, or even want, your superstars to be bangers. They are just too damn valuable and precious - Bangers come cheaper. Why did Kareem always play with the likes of Rambis, Orlando Woolridge, Mychal Thompson...? MJ with Horace Grant, Luke Longley, Dennis Rodman...? Even Shaq, arguably the most physically dominant center of all time, has been surrounded by Horace Grant, our very own Horry, Devean George, the list goes on. And exactly why someone like Anthony Mason who throws up tons of bricks can find his way into the NBA? These relatively less expensive dudes will help you clean the glass and mop the floor, devotedly and happily! Let them do it! I admire Barkley's game, but as a basketball commentator, he has been pretty disappointing. I just don't find the kind of sharp & insightful analysis that I would expect from a great player like him. In fact, it seems to me he's trying to make it up by making controversial statements on racism, players behaviors, management decisions and other stuff.
