I was looking through my statement on-line and came across something I had never noticed before:

    Continental Card Fee - $30

I fired off a message to Chase and this was the reply I got:

The fee in the amount of $30.00 dated 03/31/2005 is the
annual fee for your Chase Continental Airlines Banking
    Card.

Do all banks charge this high of a fee to use their cards, or is this because mine is a "Chase Continental Airlines Banking Card"? I get points toward miles when using the card, but I'm not sure it's worth $30 a year. I certainly don't recall this being the case when I got the card years ago and don't know how it slipped by until now.

American Express' fees are higher than that, but then their operating model is a little bit different from the other guys.

I think it is for getting the miles for the airline. I saw this type of cards before, but I do not think they are worth it.

Yes, all credit cards associated with airlines that I know of have an annual fee, between $30-$70. I have looked at getting frequent flier miles using CC before, but for me at least it is not worth it - especially when you factor in that you can only use your miles on certain flights at certain times.

It's also not a debit card I assume. Mine is. I know credit cards have annual charges, I've just never noticed this on my debit card before.

You do get the frequent miles, if you like that sort of thing.
