The bandwagon fans are the misguided souls who believe Yao is God and that we should build temples to him and worship there every day - the way Les worships at the altar of money. Why does it matter, that's the only thing any of yall try to use against me on this site like it makes a difference about what I know or believe about the Rockets? I'm 22 years old. Old enough to be a fan and to have grown up a fan my entire life.
You really are not making sense. By being critical doesn't mean that "we are jumping ship". So its okay to be critical about the coaches, "poor coaching decisions" but not the players. Please enlighten me to where that fuzzy line is drawn.
The point of this excercise is that a fan is not jumping off the bandwagon if he says the Rockets suck, because that is what they have done so far this year. People are frustrated. I believe we can turn it around. Only 8.5% of the season is done. The reason people are saying things like "the Rockets suck" is because they are pissed off about something they care about. A bandwagon fan would get off the bandwagon and have no qualms about the Rockets sucking.

I'm with you there. I would only add that there's no reason for us to wear black and have a candle light vigil here on Clutchfans.. that's what it seems like with all of the "we suck" and "this is how much we suck" threads. I'd rather see constructive ones, is all. What can we do to improve with the team that we have? "We can't improve, our guys all suck and are role players" is not the type of post that adds to quality discussion.
Lots of Negative fans on these boards. I guess you'll have that. All though it seems it has gotten worse over the years. Way too many critics and home GM's, but who I am too say. That's the whole fun part of being a fan the highs and the lows. We're addicted to that feeling. So of course you gonna have guys and girls on her b****ing as if there significant other has betrayed them. I'll Just Roll with the Rockets good or bad. And try too keep my stupid suggestions and opinions to a minimum.
To clear it up because there is obviously some confusion I am not against having an opinion about the team/players/coaches. What I was saying is everyone goes from loving everything about the team to wanting to rip it apart. I understand there are things that aren't right with the team, the 1-6 record shows that. That doesn't mean that the Rockets suck. I wanted this directed towards the threads that were started about things like We suck, I hope yao retires, there goes the season. The season just started and we have to make adjustments just like last season. There's a difference in being a fan with concerns and someone who just gives up and says trade everyone we suck now. I have faith in our organization to do what it takes to win and I wouldn't just give up as easily as it seems everyone else is. Like I said earlier, there are certain people that are "jumping ship" and others that are over analyzing everything about the team as said in other threads. There's no fuzzy line, i have opinions just like everyone else.
If people want to jump ship or complain let them. I don't get the whole idea about judging other peoples fanhood. Everyone has their own perspective..... At least we are all here because we love the Rockets. DD
This thread is ridiculous. The reason people that make threads with titles such as "face it, we suck," is because they don't understand basketball and simply can not come up with an analysis, either stats or basketball wise, that can help make the team better. There are many many things this organization can do internally that could help fix our problems. I don't think we can become a championship contender with the roster as constructed, but we can be a hell of a lot better. Tweak our starting line-up, and get some athleticism in the front court. Yes, even if Scola or Yao has to come off the bench. Having 2 un-athletic post up scorers is great, but not at the same time. There. That took a minimal amount of time and would help contribute to a thread. We could debate all day about it in a friendly manner. We don't need posters that say, "face it, we suck." We also don't need posters that give those posters attention. If this board was full of mature fans, those threads would never get off the ground and would be locked up within days.
1. Bandwagon/T-shirt fans are fans who jump on when the team is winning and jump off when the team is losing. They do not know much about the team at all, just enough to impress/show-off to other bandwagon fans or non-fans. 2. Most bandwagon/T-shirt fans probably will never post on Clutchfans, simply because that requires more effort and desire about the Rockets than they likely possess. 3. Those small few bandwagon fans who do end up posting on Clutchfans are then repeated schooled by Tinman, DD, durvasa, Clutch, BimaThug, among many others on the history of the Rockets and and what the real knowledge about the Rockets entails. 4. When the team starts losing, those bandwagon/t-shirt fans disappear. Duh. That is what a bandwagon fan does, they jump off and leave. People repeatedly posting about how this player stinks, or we need to do this trade, when do we start tanking, or Morey mislead us are not Bandwagon fans. Their posts show that they care too much. They may be letting their emotions get the best of them, not being articulate, not logically processing a situation, using ad hominem attacks or circular arguments, or whatever, but they still beat Rocket Red Jet Fuel through their veins. They are still true Rockets fans. So the next time someone vents, posts something silly or stupid, or goes off, realize that while they might be making little sense or forgetting an obvious truth or fact, they not band wagon fans. Not in the least. They are hurt, they are sad, they have had some hopes dashed, but they care. They are very much part Rocket nation.
I hate how often the term "bandwagon fans" get thrown around. Are we no longer allowed to criticize the team when we feel they are under performing? There's too much negativity? Welcome to the real world. Some people are pessimist by nature, but how does that make them "bandwagon fans". I'm sorry, but if someone is still a fan after 15 years of not winning another title and 10+ years of 1st round failures, how in the hell do get off calling people "bandwagon fans".
