Can't watch the game live tonight, the wife has dibs on the TV, but is there a reason that Rudy can't play Francis more minutes? I mean the kid is 21. He should be able to get more minutes a game. I see he's having a great 1st quarter scoring, I realize he's not getting others involved, but he truely is the Rox only real scoring threat, but as he was getting on track through the first quarter as soon as the second quarter starts he sits until there's 3 minutes left??? He has to be cold, then its like, turnover, miss, turnover, miss. What do you expect when your taken out of the flow of the game for so long? Can anyone tell me why Cato isn't getting any time? He only has 1 foul through the 3rd quarter, and its not like the Nets frontcourt is one that dictates a different flow. I realize Hamilton is having a fine game, but Cato is the guy making the megabucks now. Why cant Rudy find time, or just let him learn a little out there. Im not reading any turnovers coming up really. Still baffled by Rudy's sub pattern. 3 years running. BTW, How much longer is TMass out for?
If were going to lose by 20 anyway, lets lose with , Carlos Rogers, Shandon Anderson, and Kelvin Cato....not with , Matt Bullard, and Thomas Hamilton. Steve Francis has the flu, but it wouldn't matter if he was healthy, he probably still wouldn't play. One question, why does Carlos Rogers sit the whole second half.
I no longer have respect for Rudy as a coach. His decision making abilities are so unprofessional. I can't understand the way the man thinks. But I do admit he is among the best when it comes to finding talent. The only exception this year has been Walt Williams, who I am so pissed at. I thought he was going to flourish and average 15 pts a game. But he has been a dud, and his slump looks more like a vert very very low plateau.
Rudy's decisions such as the post up offense to start the season,no motion and plays for Shandon, and his infernal susbstitution patterns have me worried.I realize we have lost Dream and Chuck but this has been going on longer than that.He has shown no inclination to bring defensive pressure with our guards or to isolate Francis or post up Anderson consistently. I love Rudy for all he's done for the team both as a player and as a coach.I am beginning to really worry about him.Noone can doubt his ability to analyze and obtain talent, but he is not doing a good job on the court.I'm sorry. That's just how I feel. Some might think this is just part of his Barkley hangover,I don't know...............
I just want the guys to play ball for 48 minutes! Not one good quarter, then a crummy one, then another good one. Rudy is not perfect but how we can look good one minute or one game and not the next is the players not giving it their all. But I can understand being nervous and somewhat lost since we just lost Chuck, their leader. We shot pretty horribly tonight. These guys are professionals and should be better than this. Thank goodness Stevie was hot in the 1st with 11 points, at least that helped the shooting percentage a little. As the commentators said, the Rockets just looked flat tonight. No direction, just lost. The coaches and each player can take the blame. Cato doesn't seem to be showing any energy or fire out there so I guess that is why his minutes are down again. Hamilton is hungry, he is trying and doing good. Cato has his money. I have been a big supporter of Cato (I happened to be at the preseason game where he got a triple double) but am disappointed in him. But Walt doesn't seem to have much fire either but he might be playing more than Cato. This computer is acting up. Don't know what this message will look like. Sorry if it is messed up. This game was lost, so I can understand Rudy playing other guys to see what they have.
TDS99, Have you given up trying to correct people who think there will be plenty of caproom to sign free agents? Read my post in the topic "Maybe Next Year" Thank you Mango
baffled well so is francis. check out the chron article today on their website. Francis wonders why he didnt play more and thought he played well. hes gonna ask rudy maybe why..
Look, I'm all for giving our young starting 5 a chance to play, but there's a difference between losing and learning while playing hard, and getting flat out embarrassed by a poor team. Our starters frankly look like they play with no purpose. That's inexcusable, no matter how long you've been in the league. Our reserves have been playing hard out there, as well as playing more as a team, and got us back into the game two nights ago and almost last night. It's not like our young guys are getting benched in favor of vets -- our 2nd unit needs to learn, too. The 2nd team last night was Mobley, Drew, Thomas, Hamilton, and Bullard. Those guys need the experience just as much as the starters, and if they play harder and better than the starters while they're in the game as well, it's not really that tough a call for a coach to make. Maybe Rudy needs to Learn more than the Players. I think Diverse Lineups and rotation should be what we need to work on. I think that instead of pulling 5 and subbing 5 maybe we should mix and match I think Anderson, Francis, Cut, Los and Cato should be in . .then maybe Move in Thomas. . then T-HAM .. maybe sub in bryce. . . then Bring back los and take out Anderson . . . sh*t like that . . . Mixing the it up. I think we should work all the Permutations of our line up. Run and Gun . . . Post Up . . Cuts . .. Picks. . . . . Try it all. I know Rudy is more than a one trick pony. . . time for him to show it. Rocket River
The problem of our starting 5 is that they don't have enough fire power, other than Rogers, guys like Cato, Anderson, and Williams are either raw on offense, tends to disappear, or can't hit a shot. So that Francis needed to take many shots to carry the offense. Starting Cat at 2 and Anderson at 3 is good until Dream and Tmass come back. At then Francis at 1, Anderson at 2, Rogers at 3, Tmass at 4 and Dream at 5.
