He may not be from Nigeria but this guy from Senagal is the next BIG thing. I read about him at my friends house on ESPN (insider) ...so whoever might be able to get the article....post it here!!!

They say he has a HUGE upside ...............and does not have the injury problem like that Siberian shaq they are also talking about. This Draft seems to be REALLY DEEP!!

Maybe we should trade Yao for a top three draft pick and another player(since Yao has Kinda poven he can play with the big boys)......

the bad things on Yao is that he has a small wing span and is TOO Skiny up top (with all these BIG center coming from the internation scene it gives him more competetion). Though he seems like he'll be an above average player but never a dominant force like Shaq or Hakeem. So why not risk it. His value may never be higher!!

NO, cuz first of all, THESE people hasn't proven anything in the NBA & Yao Ming has...& will continue 2 build on last season! The ROXS have the REAL DEAL on their hands :) !!! So why trade 4 "unknown quantity(s)"!!!

    I'm not bashing Yao.......

    my point is...
the west is FUll of BIG MEN!!!

    Duncan
    Garnet
    Shaq

I don't think Yao can really handle these guys......he's really skinny.....he's not going to become all that huge....how many players do you know who went from being really skinny on top to becoming a force????? NOT MANY!!....if any??

If we're gonna beat any of the guys i mentioned we need a guy who can handle them and Yao just is'nt one of them.

KG is a SF, Shaq will be long gone when Yao is in his prime, and Duncan can be contained.

7-5 296 isn't big enough to handle these guys?

they don't make em much bigger. Maybe we should be browsing used car lots for a new Center.

first of all, Yao weighs 300 pounds. it isn't like we're talking about Shawn Bradley. He has a frame that can bulk up. but i'll play your game.

Kevin Garnett. Yeah, one of the very big men you named. Have you already forgotten how skinny he was? i mean he's still pretty wirey but he has added muscle. And what about Jermaine O'Neal? He was a tooth pick when he came into the league. Oh but wait, how about Hakeem? 6'11 255. Or how about Kareem Abdul Jabar? That guy had to play Wilt Chamberlain and he was scrawny. I don't understand what people are thinking these days. I saw a sports writer say some kid was undersized to play center at 6'10 255 the other day. that's about the same stats as Olajawon. I mean it seems like if you're not Shaq you're undersized. There are what? Three centers in the league that are 7 foor 300 pounds plus worth a damn? (Shaq, Yao, Sabonis)

    i just don't get it.

also, Duncan and Garnett don't have Steve Francis. Not to mention Yao doesn't have to stop them. He doesn't play the same position. Shaq will be gone in a few years tops. This is just nonsense. Plain and simple. And I'm not even going to get into how stupid it would be to get rid of Yao from a business perspective....

I could list the reasons, but I don't want to crash the server.

I thought these kind of posts ended once Yao started playing well but wtf? small wingspan, the too skinny, yada yada yada. We'll watch those future busts fall on their butts when Yao and Steve are parading downtown.

Don't they say that about all raw players without much experience? Yeah, lets trade our future franchise players for one of those.

Didn't Les say that Yao was 10 pounds up from his begining of the season weight of 296 in March? That would put him at 306 pounds... for your information, David Robinson at 7'1, all muscular, weighs 250 pounds.

You talked about Yao being too skinny... this guy from Senegal may have upsides, but he is unproven and weighs only 234 pounds at 6'11! Talk about who's the skinny guy here.

    1) After the Jay Williams fiasco, NO ONE is a sure thing in the draft anymore.

    2) There will never be another Hakeem. The closest thing to Hakeem is Nene Hilario, but still, he doesn't have the warrior attitude/mentality.

    3) Yao Ming is 7'5, 305lbs since we last heard. He's definitely going to be in better shape when he comes into training camp. He averaged 13 and 9 without training camp, with horrible conditioning, and NO prior weightlifting. You tell me. If you throw in a training camp, a year of experience, weightlifting, and better conditioning, can't those numbers go up to 18 and 10?

Motion this thread be moved to the Draft forum.

    Here's Badiane's NBADraft.net profile for reference.

It's amazing how international the draft has become.
