Sure, it's always the other roommate who is bad. I'm sure none of you were ever bad roommates. You are all wonderful roommates. ;)

I was a bad roommate for a few minutes every now and then. I think the most serious thing I ever did was get upset with my apartment roommate when I prepped a meal the night before for dinner, went in the kitchen the next day hoping to eat some leftovers, and the roommate had eaten them all. Then, he pulled the "what's in the refrig belongs to both of us" card. Doh!

I would sometimes get upset at my roommate cause he, in my mind and that built up over time, had some annoying habits like whistling or humming or whatever when I was trying to study. I try to be considerate when he's studying and just wanted the same back. But, inevitably, he would emerge out of his room whistling and humming up a storm on the way into the kitchen while I was in the living room studying.

But, I think getting on each others' nerves is just part of the process. I quickly found out that I would rather just be on my own because being tolerant of another's habits was something I wasn't good at if I felt disrespected...and it could blow up into arguments quite easily. So, my roommate experience lasted about six months in college. I much rather preferred visiting friends who were roommates. lol

The one other thing that annoyed me and especially my folks when they visited is he had the public hall bathroom responsibilites but he never cleaned it. Therefore, it was gross in there. Then, my parents show up and are disgusted with me over it. I'm like...why should I clean his bathroom? If that's how he wants it, then fine. I used the bathroom in my room only.

I'm sure he got annoyed with me as well....especially if I was a little cranky in the mornings. lol

I would be sure to buy a mini-fridge for my room.

Moved in with two other friends many years ago, had a friend who, at the time was know be kinda a mooch. He became the "guy on the couch", literally. Moved in and sleep in the living room on my couch every night.

Had my other two roommates, one had a job (like me), the other was in school full time and was being taking care of by his parents. I thought that this would be great as he would have reliable income on paying the bills and expenses, and it was. What I did not consider was that he would get really bored throughout the day. Because his parents gave him "allowance" for spending money, he would run short on the day to day operations of being a 23 year old (Beer/Food). He would steal change and cigs from us all the time.

The issue got compounded when my other friend (who is now one of best friends, but at the time was on a five year unemployment streak) decided that our Rage Party Down House would be a good place to crash. I had no problem at the time, thinking that boundaries would be respected, and I was helping a friend.

He and the other roommate (college guy we will call him), did nothing but buy skoal dip and leave their spitters all throughout the house. I would come home and have to pick up all the nasty ass spitters, because they wouldn't do it.

We had many a parties back then and respected our neighbors (it was a house), the "guy on the couch" threw a empty bottle of Crown Royal over the fence and it shattered. I was awoken the next day by my neighbor, with a half broken bottle of crown, and a sour disposition. He told me that his dog stepped in the glass and he had to be taken to the vet for medical treatment. Lucky for me that he didn't ask for payment or escalate it further.

The "guy on the couch" who didn't pay bills/living expenses also liked it cold, I am talking meat locker cold (which I like also to a certain extent). He put it on the lowest setting, like fkn 55 or something, a/c froze over and we were without a/c for like a four day, in the middle of summer.

I would bring girls home because it was our house, one night I brought a girl who is now my current fiance (whew), I came home to "College Guy" and "Guy on the Couch" with a lot of free time on their hands and stapled porno mag pics all over my door... This was 2007, I didn't think print p*rn existed. That one made me chuckle.

I have at least three more stories but its late. "Guy on the couch" is one of my best friends now and has done a 180 in his life, the other one I haven't talk to since we moved.

Having roommates was fun, and I learned a lot about living with people. I have not have a roommate since.

Wait I did forget one of the best stories...

"Guy on the couch" and I were drunk as hell. We had paint cans (landlords) stored in our garage. He wanted to break into the other roommates door (the only sane one at the time) and paint is face and throw paint all over his bed.

Knowing that my deposit was in jeopardy if he got to do it, I stepped in and said no ****ing way!! He punched me in the mouth, people dragged him away, and we reconciled like five days later...

    yup.
