Hardaway and Jones are back in the Heat lineup, and they're coming off a loss to the Cavs. Looks like back to .500 for the Rockets.

I think Hardaway will be put injured again after going up against Francis.

As far as Eddie Jones, I think we have someone called Shandon Anderson to shut him down.

theres's also that brian grant guy. the way mo's playing(not saying he wont get better just that hes not doing too well right now), brian might tear him apart. can anyone else imagine a frontline of zo, grant, and mason. SCARY. then not to mention in the backcourt a guy who can break out for 20 points any night and the best 2 guard

Does Brian Grant currently play center or power forward for the Heat? If the Heat is playing Causwell at center, maybe Hakeem can do some damage at center. Of course, Dream got beaten by some guy whose name I can't even remember on opening night...

Anyway, I think it's definitely going to be tought against the Heat on saturday. Brian Grant has been a force, and Taylor will have his hands full. Anderson is a great defender, but can anyone really stop Jones? Limited containment would satisfy me. The course that I expect is that his production to be met by Cuttino.
Who knows what Mason will do? Some days he produces some monster numbers on the offensive end, but other times it's ugly. It's going to be tough for Walt to contain his presense in the paint, however. I see him having a big game if Walt is on him.
It's definitely going to be interesting to see the backcourts go at it. Jones and Hardaway are arguably the best duo when healthy. I sure as heck hope Francis will not have an off game.

The Heat also have their own Mobley. His name is Eddie House. This guy is dangerous and having a good year for a rookie.

This will be the Heat's 3rd game in 3 nights, so maybe they will be tired. They have lost 2 in a row, so they will be looking for a win.

There are no three games in three nights for anyone this year. Miami did not play on Thursday.

The Cleveland Cavaliers just beat the Heat in two successive games including a 19 point drubbing in Miami. Eddie Jones made game 2 closer, but c'mon guys this is THE CAVS were talking about. How did they do such a difficult feat against such a powerful team?

This is how the Cavs did it and what the Rockets MUST do to beat the Heat.

    1) *TEAM Defense*
on the ball and unrelenting. The Cavs held Miami to 36.2% from the field (25% from the arc). This is especially critical since the Cavs blocked 16 shots in the 2 games vs. Miami - more than double what the Rockets average. Shandon is struggling and Eddie Jones is too much for him right now. It will have to be the D we saw against PHX and NOT the horrible D from the Celtics game.

    2) *Rebounding* -
the Cavs had the edge 104 to 82. That's 11 more shots per game. Mo Taylor will have to provide some boards. This will take pressure off of the Rockets guards. Pat Riley is smart enough to have seen how poor the Rockets transition D was against Boston. He is an excellent motivator and will have the Heat keep the tempo quick making the rebounds very important. Walt can't overpower Mason, but needs to make him think a little and not get into an easy rebounding groove.

    3) *Turnovers* -
although the Cavs had more TO's, they had more points off the turnovers. The Rocks will need to push the ball back at the Heat and make good decisions in transition. Andre Miller played 80 minutes and had only 8 TO's. I see an opportunity for Moochie to really shine. I hope he does.

    4) *Find the "hot man* -
the Rocks are shooting a horrible 30% against the Celts and only give Walt 6 shots when he's shooting 50%? Causwell and Grant combined have 1 more block than Tony Battie - get Collier the baseline J.

In BOTH games, the Cavs had FIVE players in double figures. The team highs were 13 & 16 respectively. If Steve and Cat turn this into a dual with Hardaway and Jones, it could be a repeat of the Celtic debacle. Otherwise, this is a solid test and a game the Rockets are VERY capable of winning.

    Expectations on Cav game:

    1) Walt will get the ball often, and he will shoot (and shoot well, this time)

    2) Steve will have a big game (he's gotta have one soon, just to avoid criticism). Somewhere around 22/8/7.

    3) Mo will flop again on rebs - they will come from our guards, as always. He'll just score a few.

    4) Shandon will again go blank on the scoreboard, but he will be instrumental in the D (as always - none of it will be recorded). He will get mad and record 5 steals. (mark my word)

    5) Hakeem... Ahhh... Hakeem is our wildcard.
He will morph into a steel-stealing machine, and run for 32 pts... (just fascinating-dreaming)

    6) Normally not included, but Cuttino is special: 18pts/ 3 rebs/ 3 assists...

(Mooch will also make a quiet contribution - like SA, not in pts, but in movement)

They have a good chance of winning. Even without the wishful thinking.

As long as the stats evenout, I don't care if I'm wrong on the predictions...

    Here's how it is:

    Hardaway's knee is acting up
Jones' ankle is playing on his ankle in pain
    that's the backcourt...
    Front court:
    Brian Grant
    Anthony Mason
    Duane Causwell
AC Green (9 minutes a game)
so these guys are playing heavy minutes..
    Bench: Eddie House, Anthony Carter...

I dunno, it will be a close one, but the Rockets will probably edge the Heat...

Cuttino big, Anderson 9 pts., but will hold Jones to below 15.....Hardaway will have 14....Grant will have a huge game, but that's it.....I hope the Rockets take it...

You mentioned some "Allen's," but you forgot Allan Houston. That's right -- I rate Houston just below Carter, Bryant, and Iverson and above Allen, Hardaway, and Spreewell.

Allan Houston -- His shot is so sweet, when he shoots, hummingbirds flock to Madison Square Garden.

Maybe if Ray Allen, Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, Penny Hardaway, Spreewell ----Rockets03

I think that jones is better than all of them other than kobe or maybe vince

ray allen- not even half the defensive player or as athletic as jones

Iverson- better offensively, but not even a fourth of jones defense

Kobe Bryant- okay kobe might be better, but jones is right up there with him. jones is a much better outside shooter than kobe(too streaky)

Vince- a better scorer, but not as good defensively and not as good of a shooter, i give the benefit if the doubt to jones

Penny- Penny? why is he even on this list, hasnt done anything in the last couple years but ill compare the penny of old to jones, not as good defensively and too hesitant when passing off the dribble

Spreewell- pretty much the same as the rest of these guys, not as good on "d" or as good a shooter.

Vj23k, how can you say eddie jones is a better shooter than vince carter? jones might have been a better shooter than carter when carter was a rookie, but VC is not by any means an all dunk show anymore, he has a developed shot now and can not be left alone anywhere up to 3 feet BEHIND THE THREE POINT LINE. Jones is a good shooter, but don't underestimate carter just because he can dunk.

Good. The Rockets suck when they play teams that suck. But looking across the floor and seeing guys Eddie and Tim makes Stevie and Cat feel like they got a point to prove. We'd be in way more trouble if they stayed on IR and Zo came back.

lewie, im not underestimating carter. but jones is much more of a pure shooter than carter. carter is shooting .003% better than eddie outside the arc but eddie has played 8 games to vince's 11.
