The real story is a little long...I will condense it. I will never fly American again. Why? It took 3 days to go from Paris to Houston (w/ stop at DFW). Reasons why: It rained...puddle jumper to Hou cannot fly in rain...must get ff the plane. Announced on intercom "all canceled puddle jumper flyers please run as fast as you can to gate 5." Mayhem. Line of 100 + people. Finally talk to a computer person -- no flights how 'bout one tomorrow. "No, anything else." Go to gate 7b and put yourself on standby for a jet. Gate 7b does not let me. Go back. Go to gate 7c. 7c is overbooked and has 35 standbyes by now. After 15 hours in the airport I finally cave in and re-schedule for a flight at 7:30 am. They "get" me a hotel - no discount...turns out it is in Arlington and is a motel with no food or anything. I did get a one way taxi voucher, though. Get on morning plane. it there...still sitting...captain "sorry there is a delay." Turns out the luggage compartment was missing 1 clamp that helps support the bungee netting along the wall. 1 hour. Maintenance comes out...wrong part. Captain, "We will have to get on another plane. it has not landed yet." Plane lands...gets cleaned out. we go to a bus...finally board. wait another 30 minutes or so...plane takes off. Meanwhile in Houston airport, all that was told was "delayed" for 4 hours. Mother wascrying future wife was crying. I was exhausted after 36 hours of no sleep and food that I immediately threw up. Slept for 18 hours when I got home. ------------------ Whitey will pay.
I hate Southwestern Bell. During a 9 month period, my home phone stopped working 5 times, each for a period of 2 to 5 days. I finally cancelled, and I'm so happy that I'll never pay SWBT another cent again. Cellular only for me now.
I usually don't bother much with the "good post" responses, but Behad....you are the freaking MAN. ------------------ "We got f*cking smashed every day. It is now 7:15 AM, three days after AT&T was supposed to turn off the phone in my old apartment. The ^$@#&*^&$#*$^#* phone is still on. ------------------ "Blues is a Healer" --John Lee Hooker

Bastards! any help would be appreciated, thanks behad you da man! hehe... kidding, I'm gonna call the telco today and find out what's up. rH ------------------ Homecourt will always be 'The Summit' to me!! It is now 7:30 AM on Friday. One full week after I called AT&T to cut off my old phone service and setup a recording referring callers to my new number. My phone service has been disconnected, but when you call my old number you get a recording that states "We're sorry. The digits dialed are not a valid command". ------------------ "Blues is a Healer" --John Lee Hooker
Got another one: I called Optel cable to have my cable TV turned off in the okd apartment. I called their 1-800 number, pushed the appropriate buttons to get in the "disconnect your cable" queue, and waited on hold for 20 minutes before the phone clicked and hung up. I called back and this time pushed the buttons to get in the "start new service" queue. My call was answered in 20 seconds, and I got them to disconnect my cable TV. Meanwhile, AT&T has disconnected my old phone and set up a recording with my new phone number on it...only problem is that they put the wrong new phone number on the recording! ------------------ "Blues is a Healer" --John Lee Hooker
As an attorney who handles some consumer law, I can tell you there is nothing worse than car dealerships. The way they screw people is nothing short of amazing...actually I sometimes have a hard time distingushing between what seems to be a civil complaint and what could be classified as a criminal matter. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER lease a car from a car dealership. They will hide things from you that you will never see...and I've had clients pay more than the sticker price for 3 years use of an automobile. ------------------
I have a problem with Bally's total fitness. These guys sell memberships at totally different prices. Why? No matter which package you get, your screwed. They should have a standard rate per package. ------------------
When I first moved into my apartments here at UTD, the phone company was called Telephone Plus. Essentially, this is the worst and most disorganized phone company in the history of the world. My redial doesn't work on any of my phones, my theory is that the number tones are going to fast for the company (but what do I know about telecom). When I dial a number sometimes, the phone makes a weird beeping sound, so I hang up. The freaking phone calls me back! It plays this same annoying beeping sound in my ear. Not to mention some 800 numbers don't work, and god help you if you want to dial long distance somewhere... But these are all trivial details, there are ways around them that I have figured out, and I am sure others could make suggestions. My main beef lays in how they handled their long distance. Despite the difficulty of getting long distance dialing through, it worked sometimes, so I would call home or relatives, what have you, and chat it up. Now, the odd thing is that I never got a long distance bill in the year or so that I made this long distance. The phone company never sent out any notices or anything indicating that long distance is free, but we never were billed (and neither was anyone else we know who used this phone company). We recieved about a 15 dollar bill a month for local service, and that was it. Needless to say, this was enough to convince me to not switch phone companies. My college friends and I even had some fun with it, calling various countries and speaking to complete foreigner who we couldn't understand, and whom I can only assume couldn't understand us. We would call up those party lines that are long distance and make fun of the callers who were there for hours on end. We had a good time with it. Lo and behold, another company buys out Telephone Plus. I curse your name, CoServ. CoServ, apparently sifting through old records of past phone bills for all its customers, realized that many possible long distance bills were never sent out. My theory on this is that Telephone Plus was so badly organized, that they just couldn't get their act together to mail the bills. CoServ takes it upon themselves to charge everyone for most of the long distance that was made for the last 6 months or so that it was free. Thank god the party lines and international calls didn't fall into that category, but the bill was still enormous. Take into account, on top of all of this, that these are all college students who have little or no money! What did they expect everyone to do, suddenly come up with $600 to pay for long distance calls they forgot they made? Few could even complain about certain charges, because they couldn't remember if they made them or not. There is more to this story, I have been at the short end of another screwing by CoServ since then, but I won't go into it here, since this is becoming long winded. ------------------ "all your base are belong to us!" I had to bring this thread back. In the posts above, you will read about my experience dealing with AT&T. AT&T finally got my old phone number disconnected in mid-March, and they finally got the forwarding phone number message correct near the end of March. I moved out of my apartment and into my house at the beginning of March. I have lived there nearly three months. Yesterday, I received a bill from AT&T for $17.95 for phone service at my old phone number at my old apartment...for the time period April 20th-May 15th! Pardon me, but would any of the fine people on this BBS happen to have a few firearms I could borrow for a while? ------------------ "Blues is a Healer" --John Lee Hooker

I ordered a system from Dell. Their website claims that it was shipped on the 8th. It still has not arrived. On a side note, my bank would not handle my electronic transfer so now some company called Equifax has paid Dell and now I have to pay them some sort of surcharge of 7 bucks. Next time I am just going to go to CompUSA. ------------------ You can't stick a porcupine in a barn, light it on fire, and expect to get licorice.
Hydra, Equifax is one of the 3 credit reporting agencies, that keep track of yours and everyone else's credit history. They also do collections work. So I wouldn't be surprised if Dell has managed to hurt your credit rating, as well. ------------------ Bingbong was set up, led to an untimely death in the prime of his life for no other reason than pure malice.
