I know this will piss off alot of people around here, but.... In 1987, at the Improv in West Hollywood, I walked out of a standup performance by Jerry Seinfeld. You heard me right. I walked out after 15 minutes. I thought he was one of the most unfunny standup comics I ever heard. Two years later, his TV show started, and the rest is history. Now, on the other hand, in 1990, I saw a standup performance at the Comedy Store by Jimmy "JJ" Walker. I laughed so hard I doubled over in pain. He was absolutely hilarious.
George Lopez is hilarious. Then again, I am hispanic and in Brownsville. He and Sinbad are two of my favorites, but I haven;t seen Sinbad around in a while.
Sinbad catches a lot of crap because his routine was pretty clean, I think. But, he proves that you don't have to curse through your entire act to be funny.
When your threads consist of "My girlfriend is pregnant, should I skip town" and "I'm having huge ass problems" I'm sorry if I question the validity of said threads but they just scream comedy.
Robin Williams may not be as funny as he used to, but he is still very funny. I agree on Wanda Sykes, she isn't really that funny. Carlin isn't even a comedian, he's an artist. He's really on another level from in any other comedian in the history of comedy. I had never really seen him till about a year ago on an HBO special, I was floored. I have never seen a comedian take his craft to that level. He's the Rolls Royce of comedy. Did anyone hear Tracy Morgan on 610 Friday morning. It was hillarious.
Well put. He takes something that serious turns it into something funny and then makes you think about it and it usually turns out to be true.
