How much extra is the damage a month? Anyone have a backyard pool - not of the aboveground variety - that could give me some info?

Are pools worth the extra maintenance and above all, extra (if any) elec. expense?

Well, you posted during lunchtime....so to expect a fast response may be pushing it. Someone's bound to own a pool an can help you, though.

A hot tub even? Fatty's been in enough of them - maybe he picked up some knowledge re: the elec. costs of 'em...

This isn't related to the thread, but did anyone else with Reliant see their monthly bill nearly double? I went from $90 to $170 from May to June. WHAT THE **** GIVES?!?!

    BGM,

I suffered the same problem and prompty switched my service to another co. I save about $50 a month now.

    Check out: www.powertochoose.org

Reliants KW/HR rate is about 2 cents higher than a couple of others. That might not seem much, but when you are burning 1000-2000 KW Hours a mo., that can save you $20-$40 bucks.

I also switched my telephone service too and save about $35 a mo. on that (SBC is expensive).

Thanks codell, I'll definitely check that site out. Few things will make me happier than telling Reliant to go **** themselves!

By the way, every time I read your moniker, I think of codeine...and that makes me happy.

    FYI,

The electrical switch takes like 1-2 months, so you probably wont see the savings until the fall. I went with Entergy Solutions, and they charge 9 cents per KW Hour. The only place that was cheaper was at 8.4 cents, but they required a $110 deposit, which kind of defeats the purpose.

The phone switch was a few weeks.

Looks like Entergy is the provider for my area as well. Thanks again codell, every saved dollar counts...
