I know he's old (35), but George Lynch has been kicked out of Hornets training camp while the Hornets look to trade him. He is owed $3.2M in the final year of his contract. When healthy (which could be a big "if"), Lynch is a very good defender at the SF position and provides another good rebounder on the floor. He could play the 3 if (G-d forbid) Tracy goes down with an injury or is in foul trouble. Given his current situation with the Hornets, we could probably get him straight up for Moochie (I think the salaries are close enough). We'd be trading one bench-warmer (assuming that Alston/Anderson/Wesley will take up all the meaningful minutes at PG until Sura comes back) for another, except that we could actually USE another SF. I doubt it would happen, but I wanted to throw it out there. Lynch has always struck me as a "JVG type of player".
If it sounds like I'm bashing you, understand I'm not. But, the way I look at it, why even bother with a back up SF? I mean, barring a ******I don't even want to think about it****** T-Mac injury or a game or two when he is in foul trouble, why do we "need" one? McGrady is going to play 40-45 minutes a night there anyway, so why bother? My guess is that JVG would just have Anderson move to the 3 (which he can play anyway) or play Bowen why T-Mac gets a breather. That and I'm not so sold on trading Moochie. In another thread, they are discusing back up PG option, Moochie being one of them. CD has stated that Mooch is in the best shape of his life. Does this mean he can play back up PG or is CD throwing out trade bait? Time will tell. Interesting suggesting, I've got a lot of respect for Lynch. He is Ryan Bowen with a little bit more offensive game (good defender I'm saying). But I'm not sure how usefull that trade would be.
bowen is one hell of a defender! he is worthy of 8-12 minutes a night behind tmac. DA will, most likely, also play some 3 and backup at the 1. my main issue with our roster is that if sura doesn't come back then we are thin at the 1.
We have Dion Glover also if we plan on keeping him. He can play some SF if needed. It has him listed on NBA.com as a g/f
lynch is a solid player but do we really need someone getting paid $3 mil for about 8 minutes a game of backup duty??? i think this team is pretty complete...i'll pass.
We can go small-ball with DA or Barry inserted in the line up. Or we can go bigger with Bowen. Like most others in this thread, I'm not overly concerned about it. I think for 5 or so minutes a game, those guys can play spot SF duty just fine.
Qyntel Woods was cut by the celtics he could provide some good minutes behind T-mac and could help with starting dog and **** fights all through the city.
