Who does anyone see as the best choice for a backup center?? I think we need Elden Campbell.

He is an established vetern with good charector and comes pretty cheap. The hornets want Magliore to start next year so we cant get him. Elden is a solid, yet unspectacular player who is a slightly younger Kevin Willis. I think he is a good pickup if the price is right. Say KT for Elden? Maybe Collier and Langi for Elden??

You're kidding, right? Most teams (including us if we weren't rebuilding) would be happy with Elden as their STARTER. Elden for Collier and Langhi? Go ahead and suggest that to some Hornets fans (if there are any), but make sure to warn them somehow beforehand or you might kill them because they'll be laughing so hard.

You realize of course that the hornets have publically said that they want Magloire to start next year and Elden wont get many min. They are going to trade him even for less than Market value. Collier gives Magliore a backup and Langi gives Lee Nailon a backup cause Mashburn will likely be injured again. I would also throw in a 2nd round pick if it was a deal breaker but not much more for him. I think KT for Elden straight up is a fair trade.

Can you verify this? I haven't heard about that?

No way that is a fair trade. Elden is a better player than Kenny Thomas definitely.

I think KT is too much to give up..remember that time he scored 4 pts in 1 minute? Well, I think he can produce upwards of 60 pts a game if he plays only 30 minutes!!!

I say Baron Davis is a must, as well as future non-lottery protected picks for the next few years.

I think you have it right. KT is a stud and we need a couple of franchise players in return. Forget Campbell, I want Magloire and Davis. We could move Steve to the 2 spot and trade Cat for Marion. What a team. CD...get on the phone...KT is the cure to our losing ways ;)

Oh and Napster - Where do you download MP3s now-a-days? I've finally got broadband and I need music badly. I've been using Morpheus but that is inconsistent for complete albums.

I don't want to rain on anyones parade, but Elden Campbell makes $7.9m.

Langhi is a FA and not tradeable.
    Collier makes $1.4m.
    KT makes $1.6m.
    EG makes $2.2m.

    We're still $2.2m short.

Now, if we could only talk the Hornets into throwing in Jerome Moiso and taking Glen Rice's $9.2m..... :D

This is the perfect opportunity to get Bull back. We need throw ins though, I guess Elden Campbell would do.

Seriously though, I'd think Charlotte wants to replace the Campbell/PJ duo, they've been quite ineffective lately. PJ's numbers have been declining since the ALl Star break, and Magloire has outshined Campbell in less minutes almost every game. If a 3-way could be worked, I think the Clippers would be willing to take PJ to back-up Brand, and Campbell to start or back up Kandi man. That would be a monster frontline.

Maybe Odom needs to be thrown in to balance slaries. ;)

    It's a bit complicated.

    Then, the following:

    Charlotte sends

    PJ Brown (Lac)
    Elden Campbell (Lac)
    Matt Bullard (Hou)

    Charlotte receives

    Mo Taylor
    Re-signed Kandi
    #15 pick (Houston)
    #12 pick (Lac)

    Houston trades

    Mo T (Cha)
    #15 pick (Cha)

    Houston receievs

    Odom
    Rooks
    Bullard

    Clippers trade

    Odom (Hou)
    Rooks (Hou)
    #12 pick (Cha)

    Clippers receive

    Campbell
    PJ Brown

    How does that sound?

Of course, the Rockets would have to then work a trade like this:

    KT
    Rice
    #5

    For an experienced, established PF.

    Teams:

    Charlotte

How they mix o T, Kandi and Magloire is to their advantage. I think that's an incredible frontcourt in the East especially. I'd take that in the West ANY DAY. Mashburn has the 3, Davis the 1. Wesley is obviously the weakest link. They can package him and the picks to get Wagner or any other SG. They can also just pick a SG to back Wesley up, and a PG to back Davis up. Solid team, contenders in my opinion.

    Houston

We have Odom but now a glut of SF's, and not enough quality in the PF section. We still have our pick. We can trade KT, Rice and the pick for an established player. I woldn't want 2 rookies here while we're in the West.

    Clippers

They get incredible frontcourt depth. Exactly what they need. PJ and Campbell can both play C, as well as Brand. ALl 3 of them can play PF as well as Miles. That's great for them, while opening up the SF spot for Maggette/Miles. Very nice team they've got there, and still have the #8 to fill in any spots on the roster.

    Thoughts guys?

I disagree, Kelvin is just what the Rockets want out of their starting center. As long as he plays with defensive intensity more consistently, he is adaquete.

In the backup 5 the rockets want some offense. The backup team has less offensive firepower and needs some from this position. Griffen can be this guy but I would rather he spend 30 min a game at the 4 and 5-10 min a game at the 3.

A couple problems with that trade,

    1) Hornets dont want to make a blckbuster deal or Kandi, they are happy with Magliore.

    2) Rice almost can't be traded because of his contract

    3) The rockets dont have room for Bullard and still wouldnt have a quality backup center with that trade.

    4) Rudy loves Mo T and doesnt want to trade him.

    sracer,

Rudy loves Rice too, but he realizes that this team still lacks some quality. Apparently, we'll be trying to get rid of Rice. If that's true, you better believe that for something like this, Mo T is gone too.

To follow up on that trade, here's the side trade...A suggestion:

    Rice
    KT
    #5

    for

    Tyrone Hill
    Desagana Diop

If both trades go through, here's where we are:

    Cato/Diop/Griff
    Griff/TyHill/TMO
    Odom/TMo/Torres
    Cat/Torres
    Francis/Moochie

I agree we may be a bit thin up front. But it's NOTHING the MCE can't fix, especially with our, now, flexible salary cap situation.

Isn't that the perfect etam to go out with next year? Sure, we'd be lacking offense at the C position out of Cato and Diop, but Griff will play significant minutes here. Like I said, we can also make an addition with the MCE (around $5M). Plus, Diop's upside is HUGE. If trained properly, can easily become as powerful as Shaq. He's 17, he has 3 years to work on a shot. 4 even. If we get someone for a couple of years with the MCE, 5 even. Point is, he can be incredible. He has sp much time to develop, and has determination, loyalty, and work ethic. Those aer the intangibles needed from a young player like him.

Cleveland would make that trade because TyHill said he definatley wants out of Cleveland. He can still board like hell, which we need. PLays great D, and is a perfect experienced backup for Griff. They get KT to play minutes that TyHill was designated to play, and KT is young and has shown improvement each season. Plus, tey get the #5, they can pickup Woods. I think they have #6 so thats a step up in the rebuilding process. They can pick up Woods and Wagner. Maybe Wilcox or Gooden will be there. Who knows, those are 2 VERY good picks in a VERY good draft. Hilario is available if they want to replace Diop.

    Well, thoughts?

Bullard isn't coming back. He and Rudy had a falling out. A guy who plays summer ball with Steve and Cat told me so last year. If Bull's in Houston year-round, he's retired as a player.

    Sane,

    (Oops, nevermind. Stupid question.)

I think the Rocks can trade Cato, Rice, or MoT if they want to, but it would be best to do so during the season, especially with Rice.

If Rice comes back healthy, which means he'll probably be productive, there should be a lot of teams interested in acquiring a veteran sharp shooter like Rice, especially one with a relatively short contract.

It'll be harder for Mo, but again, when healthy, he's a solid, albeit soft, scoring big man. If someone was willing to take a chance on Juwan Howard, there's still hope.

    Cato's attractive because he's big, athletic, and.....um.....BIG!

The real question, however, is would (or should) the Rocks trade any of these guys if they're healthy and productive, especially if certain players develop (Griffin) and they draft well (Butler, Woods).

Lee Nailon doesn't need a backup. He is the backup for Mashburn. Nailon only started during the time Mash was on the IR.

I would take Mihm over Diop just because we absolutely need another project like Morris or others (Torres...).We need someone who helps now,not in the future,NOW!We have enough teens who can develop over the years,we just need a vet who has 5 or 6 years played in te NBA.I know,Mihmis no vet,but we wouldn't take a risk with him!He isn't serious injured and he knows how to play bball in the NBA!
