Does anyone else have problems getting a good green connection in Azureus. Ive already been here but I still cant seem to figure it out.

"Routers And NAT Enabled Broadband Modems

    1. Ensure you are using a port number that is not already reserved by a computer process or PC on your network, or that is possibly being blacklisted/throttled by your ISP."

How can I start the process if I dont know how to ensure the port number I use is not blocked? Seems like no matter what port I try, it doesnt work. Im running Windows XP over a broadband cable connection and use norton system works for my antivirus and firewall needs. I would like to hear anyones elses stories about bittorrent connections.

Google on the brand of your modem, "port forwarding", and if you're really specific the program you use.

I use uTorrent, and turning on DHT sometimes kills my modem to the point of resetting it. It's a small program and I don't really need that quick a connection that DHT sometimes gives.

If you have a router, you might have to open up the ports to allow traffic through. You also have to do the same for your firewall. I had trouble with the same thing. I disable all firewalls and utils and disabled the XP firewall also. I use bittornado and it allows me to specifiy the ports to broadcast. I choose 5000-5500 on the routers, firewall and BT client.

DHT creates decentralized mini clusters, which can mean faster connections. If you have a fast connection, it could double or triple your speed.

uTorrent has a habit of flooding your modem with several connections to max out DHT's potential. Linksys brands don't have this problem but other modems momentarily crap out like it's under attack by a hacker.

If you're using Azureus, just enable PnP.

I'm having a problem with BitComet. It shows downloading at anywhere between 25-60 kB/sec but the % stays at 0.0. It also shows I have a certain time left (not 99:99:99).

    Is it downloading or not?
