Okay, that's pretty weird... i figured at least half of those band members had moved/long-since-given-up-making-music.
They have... Most of these bands don't really exist anymore (at least not in this form). Should be fun.
Large and small stages? I guess one is the theater? The Axiom's pretty cool. Though the Poor Dumb Bastards blew my eardrums.
no way!! Sprawl is still out there?? My greatest rock & roll moment was singing Ciaphus in a Jesus Christ Superstar full out rock performance in the Axiom with Sprawl and other bands all together. This would have been in 1990 or so. Total awesomeness.
Seeing Sprawl again after all these years would be amazing. Hope I can make it. When is Jackie Treehorn tying the knot?
Bliss Blood is in NY doing some kind of jazz stuff last I heard. She must be coming back just for this..cuz it could never be Pain Teens without her
Bayou Pigs = Lyman Hardy's (Ed Hall, Pong) first band. This show should be great! I've been telling Matt Kelly that Sprawl should play a couple of "reunion" shows for years. Hopefully, they'll play something in Austin...
God I had such a crush on her. Actually went out with her a couple of times. She dropped me like a hot potato when she realized I wasn't as Kewl as she thought. oh well...
i think that was 91 - i remember seeing that. seeing all those band names instigated some memories. they need to add de schmog and the mike gunn, but i will try to make this regardless.
Nolen: You were Ciaphus? That is rad. I'm still in touch with most of the people that played that show. I just talked to Andy Nelson (Herod) yesterday. And I drank beers with Chrish Sweeney (de Schmog) last night. JC Superstar was what convinced me to come to Houston and put on the first Infernal Bridegroom play. Jay Maulsby (Jesus, ex-Fleshmop and Joint Chiefs) wrote the music for it and the JC's played. We did it at The Axiom, which was called Catal Huyuk at the time. Shortly after, I moved in upstairs and started booking the place. Fourteen years later, the theater company I formed with that first play is in residence at The Axiom. In fact, I am posting this message from my former bedroom and office upstairs. Speaking of Jay, Fleshmop might be at the reunion too which would be a dream come true for me. They were my favorite band back then. I've been trying to get Matt to do a Sprawl reunion for years and his condition has always been the same -- only if I got the Cave Reverend to play too. J.R. Delgado (Axiom founder) got CR, so it's on. I heard Dan and Joey (first and second guitar players) might be coming down too. And good news for Painteens fans -- J.R. is flying Bliss down for the show.
